Yet another winter like this. When exactly does it stop being weather and start being climate? How many winters does it take?

"One of the coldest air masses in years will envelop the Midwest and the Northeast this week bringing potentially life-threatening low temperatures to the Chicago area that will feel even harsher in tandem with strong winds.

In Chicago, the coldest temperatures of the year will arrive midweek. After seeing a high around 34 on Monday at O’Hare International Airport, temperatures will drop to near zero before the end of the day, according to the National Weather Service. By Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to take another plunge, to 23 below zero, flirting with Chicago’s coldest temperature ever: minus 27 on Jan. 20, 1985."

I'm liking this climate change. The Winters these past few years have been especially mild up here in the Northwest.

Guess there are winners and losers.
Isn't that the same thing we were told about Globalization?

why is it so difficult to do a web search???? you've could've had the answer in .45seconds...which how long it took me to find a simple explanation from NASA
google search-"difference between climate and weather"

NASA-The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.

the polar vortex that N america is experiencing is not new we've had them before and will have them in the future....what will change due to AGW/climate change is the intensity and duration of these events and the same applies to heat and droughts...climate change is disrupting the jet stream, causing it to swing further south and north and also to stall...the result is northern regions are getting unseasonable warm periods and southern regions to get unseasonable cold spells and both systems are lingering in place for longer periods...

what chicago is complains about now was a normal winter day where I grew up, it wasn't even considered a problem, as little kid trudging to school at -30 to -40f was something I went through every winter...now 60yrs later people freak out when the temp approaches -20, yes the winters have become noticeably warmer in my lifetime...

I was born and raised in Chicago, and we never missed a day of school for the cold.
