No matter what side of the issue you are on, I think this is a GREAT idea. It either condemns the cop or exonerates the cop. I despise DPD, and think they are the worst police force in the nation. If they adopt this program, I might have to change my mind. If this technology was available in Ferguson, maybe we wouldn't have riots and a slew of questions. http://www.9news.com/story/news/local/2014/08/27/chief-to-discuss-dpd-body-camera-program/14667667/ More info at link.
Sorry 10A, I cant agree. Liberals don't just give up when you show them proof of something. They'll just cry about how the video camera is racist.
I like the idea of cop-body cameras, because cops do need accountability. Dash cams have both protected cops and caught bad cops. However, with that said... even if Wilson was wearing a body camera, and it showed him getting attacked by Brown, the race-baiters would still not accept the truth that Wilson was in great danger and had no choice. Truth is irrelevant in this story
Another made up attack line based on nothing! - - - Updated - - - This isn't actually an experiment anymore. Body cameras are increasingly widespread, and it has been over a decade since cameras in police cars stopped being controversial. Apparantly (although I do not know for sure), the Ferguson police had neither. But they did have an armored car and riot gear, dispite the lack of riots until very recently).
I would agree that having cameras on the police officer is much better than a car cam given today's environment. This would be both a benefit to the polcie officer and to the greater public in general. And given the evolution of technolgoy, this is just a natural step. Remember, it was only 15 to 20 years ago that we first saw cameras mounted on police cruisers. Kudos for posting this. - - - Updated - - - you need to stop projecting yourself onto others.
I think its funny that the cops may be carrying body cameras to monitor you, but taking video of the cops will get you arrested.
