Rather than blaming 'the West', and thereby offering a rationale for hating the West, and sometimes murdering the peoples living there. why not point out the people in the west who were responsible for these failures and we can all then attack - but only verbally. There were many in West, political leaders, in the media, and those who follow such things, who complained that Obama was screwing everything in the Middle East, his refusal to support the Arab Spring chief among them. and yet there were those who lauded his actions. He turned his back on the Kurds as well.

Thanks for that link, Alexa, and it was worthwhile reading. Skimmed it the first time but read it more thoroughly the second time, knowing you were serious, and it still seems to offer rationals for people to behave badly. The problem I find with these historical complaints is that never seem to offer a way to move forward. And all countries have them.

Those who find justification in history to murder innocent people of today could be used as one of the examples of 'the soft bigotry of low expectations' regarding the Arab world, that they are incapable of responding positively to democracy and freedom any yet, there was a moment after the first elections in Iraq that ordinary people, the bravest being women, who held up their purple fingers in defiance of the Islamists who tried to stop them with threats of reprisals

It is these people who give me hope, that millions of decent people will look to the lives of their families - along with their good friends -for their future, a quiet revolution, rather than to the political and religious debris we see floating around there now. And now we may have a President who'll support them.

Wouldn't that be nice, someone to do this for you/us since americans as a whole obviously lack the personal responsibility they so endlessly blather on about? Americans can never be free until they stop looking for someone else to make them free as opposed to declaring it for themselves. But alas, you/we will sit, whine, and await the next aristocratic savior who sashes into the political landscape to offer you/us more false hope and change as society is economically cannibalized in the interests of the substantial people.

We are all on our own to declare our own destinies, either together in the face of the power structure, or alone. What do you plan to do my friend?

And the US has had a hand in the destabilization of the region for its own colonial purposes all along. We've taken out duly democratically elected govts, engaged in slaughter and the arms dealing that furthers it, and we still are. It is wise to recall we have partered with Saddam, Osama, al Qaida, al Nusra, and ISIS at some time or another and partner with private mercenary forces to keep the region destabilized while taking Israel in as our welfare state whil they continue with their ethnic cleansing exercises.

I plan to live my life in the freedom I've enjoyed since becoming a man. Perhaps, rather than worrying about Americans, who seem to be doing quite well, you should do the same.

How can there be 'destabilization' in a region like the Middle East when it was never quite stable? When do you feel the area was stable? Certainly not in recent times.

Do the people really need dictatorships and theocracies to keep them under control, and the restrictions of all the freedoms those in the West take for granted, as though they were born genetically inferior to those in the democracies?.

That's the kind of bigotry we so often find, and have come to expect, from leftists.

    Wikipedia? Srsly?

Ignoring history and context is not going to improve your knowledge of the conflict, but it certainly explains judgement errors. Jaffa has been the scene of bloody conflicts between different players long before 1945. It's quite clear why you chose that year to begin your own special distorted version of history, but your parallel world crumbles when confronted with reality.

Pro-Palestinians fail time and again to prove their premise that a Palestinian Arab nation lived and prospered in Palestine long before the advent of modern Zionism. All your arguments are built on this premise alone, yet you can't prove it. That's why you choose only those events in time that seem to be consistent with your point of view, ignoring everything else. Not a solid base for dialogue.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia. I prefer peer reviewed articles, but I can manage with information gleaned from other sources as well. Always more than one source.

    West's actions? Really?

And here I was thinking that the Soviet Bear and his Romanian satellite are responsible for creating and supporting terrorism in the Middle East. Which would explain why the socialist left, still toeing the line of their bolshevik gods, are supporting Islamic terrorism and blaming the victims for terrorist attacks.

    https://www.rferl.org/a/soviet-islamist-terrorism-israel-america-disinformation-pacepa/25034290.html

Please explain why the West's actions haven't brought into being Hindu terrorism, Sikh terrorism, Chinese terrorism, Congolese terrorism.

    I don't trust Wikipedia.

The historical information on Wikipedia, even when accurate, is not detailed enough to offer a correct perspective. It's more a timeline than history. I like to understand why things happen. I can't find answers in Wikipedia articles.

No way. The colonial state of Israel was created by terrorism, the extent of which most people are totally unaware. Not only that but it has continued its terrorism ever since.

    http://paldocs.net/

But then what are you to expect of Ethnic Nationalist Colonialists and of course nowadays Religious terrorism also.

P.S What RiaRaeb says about Jaffa is correct as to my memory. You have provided nothing to dispute that.

    Suarez? Oh, joy...

    http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/the-book-which-lies-and-distorts/

Joseph Massad, whose article, published by al Jazeera, was shared and debated at Stormfront? That Massad?

Here's a list of Stormfront and Massad quotes. Can you guess who said what?
    http://www.jpost.com/Blogs/The-Warp...y-Joseph-Massads-obsession-with-Israel-364634

    I don't dispute, and I don't don't dispute.

I don't accept Wikipedia as a source for sensitive subjects like history and politics.

I know about Jaffa, I don't need Wikipedia to tell me what happened there.

Eh no, these criticisms were taken to The House of Lords and proved to be false. Telling the truth about history is not antisemitism was their conclusion. He produces archives to justify what he says and is given a strong endorsement from Pappe

    http://state-of-terror.net/

Free Speech on Israel was also disgusted at the way pro Israel's interfered with his right to have Free Speech in the UK (an ongoing problem)

    http://freespeechonisrael.org.uk/stateofterror/#sthash.nknWUJ4m.dpbs

That has nothing to bare on the integrity of his work as a Professor of Modern Arab History. People are responsible for the accuracy of work they produce not the people who read it. Unlike yourself I do not share your agreement with the Sauds about Al-Jazeera.

Of course pro Israelis only have as their weapon against criticism antisemitism, something which of course Massad explains began around the same time as Zionism and has been Zionism's greatest friend.

Of course you do. That is what you have been trying to do here. Clearly you could not find a quick claim of antisemitism so resorted to your other back up, not liking the source.

Wiki definitely can be abused. They had to spend ages changing lies Hasbara trolls had written all over the Israeli Palestine pages. However it is irrelevant whether you like Wiki or not. RiaRaeb was not promoting wiki. He was just using it to provide some well known information.

Then you will know that the quotes RiadRaeb gave were true - possibly just like trying to shout antisemitism which as far as

    STATE OF TERROR
    How terrorism created modern Israel,

The House of Lords found to be a false allegation, if that does not fit then just complain about the source. Really you are just wasting people's time.

But what was wanted has been achieved, the thread has been derailed, the seed of doubt put in the mind of others reading this post. And still no one says Israel is not a threat to world peace.

When they can lie, they lie.
If they cant lie, attack the poster with calls of antisemitism.
If they cannot attack the poster, dispute the source.
Anything to stop genuine criticism of the Zionist state.

There's much the Wiki article doesn't say. Half truths don't help us understand the world we live in.

For instance, Wiki doesn't say that Tel Aviv was under sniper fire from Jaffa since November 29, 1947. Dozens died, hundreds were injured, thousands were forced to abandon their homes. It also doesn't say that the "mortar bombardment" was a tactic meant to allow Irgun soldiers to advance through buildings, because in the open they were exposed to enemy fire. Irgun's mortar bombardment skills were later used to help Haganah retrieve their wounded from the battlefield by creating a diversion.

Wikipedia is for the lazy and the biased.

I agree.. Have you read this piece published in the Atlantic in 1920?

Zionist Aspirations in Palestine. THAT the Jews, once a powerful tribe and perhaps almost a nation, should, after the lapse of so many centuries, cherish aspirations to become a modern nation with a country of their own, is both commendable and romantic.
