https://www.yahoo.com/news/china-buys-american-soybeans-vowing-170527551.html China Buys American Soybeans after Vowing to Boycott U.S. Farm Products China purchased a comparatively small amount of U.S. soybeans several days ago after promising to boycott U.S. farm products amid deteriorating trade negotiations with the Trump administration. Beijing reached agreements last week to buy 9,589 metric tons of American soybeans for the current marketing year and 66,000 metric tons for the following year, which starts September 1, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture released Thursday. . . . China Needs They really, really need As needs China. Moi Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic, regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.
@Mac-7 The Big Picture. and China are in a relationship that upon ending would be very painful for both. Meanwhile, Who will miss https://news.yahoo.com/beijing-hits-back-trudeau-vows-stand-china-093351598.html Beijing hits back after Trudeau vows to stand up to China Beijing (AFP) - Beijing on Thursday accused Ottawa of worsening bilateral relations after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vowed to stand up to China amid deepening diplomatic and trade disputes. The two countries have been locked in a feud since last December, when Canada detained top Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou Arrested & Detained Dec. 1, '18 and -- in apparent retaliation -- China detained two Canadian nationals over espionage-linked accusations. On Wednesday, Trudeau pushed back against Beijing in a speech that promised to "always defend Canadians and Canadian interests" and to not "back down". The big picture is and China have better relations, even if behaved as cat's paw re. Meng Wanzhou. And is now stuck with it. Remember, I warned y'all way back that "this" would not go well for Did put their Beto in charge?
Most of those soybeans sold to China from the US are grown on large-scale farms grown by Agro corporations. What harvesting work machines can't do is mostly outsourced to minimum wage migrant farm workers, most of whom are undocumented. I'm not convinced exporting soybeans is creating many American jobs.
really you can find dozens upon dozens articles on how trade war affect farmer. here is few https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ks-north-dakota-soybean-farmers-idUSKCN1VC0ZX https://www.huffpost.com/entry/farmers-china-trade-war-trump_b_5d5c306ae4b095fe2b67e8bb oh and this one is from Fox news https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/us-soybean-farmers-trump-tariffs
China is buying American. That is a good thing, right? Food Production is a form of National Security. Them paying for produced food contributes to our national security. Depends on how you look at it. Inside every silver lining there is a dark cloud.
I don't think America needs that many soybeans. They're growing so many soybeans they're stuffing soybean oil in all sorts of consumer products, and American consumers have no idea. Read the ingredient list on a candy bar, it will likely list "soy lecithin", "soybean oil" or "vegetable oil", which is probably just soybean oil.
Face it, China really doesn't need that much from the US, but they're so flush with US dollars that it's slightly cheaper for them to buy soybeans and wheat from the US than to grow it themselves. Soybeans and wheat harvesting in the US is mostly mechanized, so the higher cost of labor in the US isn't as much a factor for exporting to lower wage countries like China. These are also commodities that have very low profit margins.
Jobs created are not so much in the fields. It only takes 2-3 people to harvest a couple thousand acres of beans or corn. Most of the jobs are in grain storage, trucking, rail, and barge transport. Other jobs are created in making all the products soybeans are used for. The same is true of corn. “Corporate farms” and “factory farms” are labels many people give to farms using modern equipment and technology. Following that definition then, you might think “family farms” would be operations using practices and technologies from a bygone era. In truth, a corporation is an ownership structure, not a farming practice. Most farms are modernized and may get labeled as “factory farms,” even though more than 97 percent of them are family-owned. Soybeans are used in a wide variety of foods for humans and animals, as well as for industrial and consumer products such as building materials, lubricants and other household items. Poultry and livestock feed make up 97 percent of soybean meal used in the U.S. The other 3 percent of soybean meal used in the U.S. is in food products like protein alternatives and soymilk Oil used for food accounts for 68 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S Soybean oil used for industrial purposes accounts for 7 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S. This oil is converted into products like paints, plastics and cleaners. Biodiesel makes up 25 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S. Biodiesel is a renewable substitute for petroleum diesel made from soybean oil. The fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions, increases energy efficiency and provides a 15 percent price support for soybeans. Large farms normally rotate crops every year. Soybean to Corn. Following year, Corn to Soybean We export about 50% of all soybeans produced in the USA and about 21% of all corn. China is the largest importer closly followed by the European Union.
China had a African Swine-flu outbreak recently, thus the lower soy feed imports (so lower soy exports from US not just due to tariffs), also caused a pork shortage so likely to see increase in pork imports from everywhere, including US
America will need a lot of soybean production right after Trump gets reelected because he wants to do away with EBT and give out weekly food boxes.
Everyone seems to think China is our friend. China's retaliation announced from Beijing on their Saturday morning was about 1.5 hours before Fed Chair Powell gave a speech at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in Wyoming this morning. Powell, stopped short of saying the U.S. central bank is prepared to cut interest rates for a second time this year. This created a perfect opportunity for negative market reaction. Trump is to speak later this afternoon. He may address tariffs, interest rates or both. It is possible Powell may not be Fed Chair much longer. It is also possible that $300 billion in new tariffs against China are made a certainty to begin in September.
China’s goal is simple It plans to be the dominant economic, military and political power on earth and beyond earth
Lots of activity. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trum...-than-china-145940726.html?.tsrc=bell-brknews Trump rips Fed's Powell, demands companies seek 'alternatives' to China President Donald Trump on Friday excoriated the Federal Reserve and the man he hand-picked to lead the institution, ramping up his relentless critiques by asking whether the Fed was a “bigger enemy” than China. After Fed chief Jerome Powell declared at a conference in Jackson Hole that the central bank was prepared to sustain the U.S. economy with more rate cuts, Trump upped the ante with more broadsides against Fed policy. In a series of posts on Twitter, the president both lambasted Fed policy and demanded that U.S. companies seek alternatives to China as the trade dispute between the two countries takes a turn for the worse. On Friday, Beijing announced a new round of retaliatory tariffs worth $75 billion, which will be imposed in two separate tranches on September 1 and December 15. Trump’s tone was even more harsh than usual, asking whether Powell was worse for the economy than Chinese President Xi Jinping, with whom he’s been sparring over bilateral trade. And through it all, China is buying our soybeans. I do not like rate cuts. I want rate increases so savings earns at least 4%. Cheap money makes money cheap and feeds inflation. Just do your grocery store shopping and tell me it ain't true. Moi
Globalists are simpletons who live only for today They assume china will just continue to supply any toy they desire at dirt cheap prices
US produces 35 million tons, so that amount it practically nothing, not to mention that China had promised to buy 20 million tons.
Whatever the the amount China purchases, it is GREATER THAN ZERO And zero was there announced intent. Are YOU tired of Trump victories yet? There is time for China to make more, small purchases. The sum being . . . more . . . GREATER THAN ZERO! Moi Y'think China will buy soybeans while Meng Wanzhou remains in custody?
Their announced intent was to buy 20 million tons. Even one bean would be greater than zero, and yet meaningless. How this translates to 'victory' is beyond me.
I do not believe you want a 'victory'. Expressed above is a "qualitative" victory. From more than zero! Maybe more meaningful regarding China than France. Get it or not.Because you wish for failure. You will resist getting it! Take the last word, as you like. ttfn
What I want or don't want has nothing to do with it. China promised to buy 20 million tons and bought far less, so they screwed us. If you want to call is victory, then so be it.
