The stock market has certainly had a reaction to it. It is sort of like an Ebola scare in Africa that also affected stock markets In the US. Disney closed parks in China, Imax closed theaters there, less people were driving so oil consumption was down. This means billions in lost revenue to China's economy in the short term. If it lasts, it could be devastating. Markets in the US over reacted IMO. It could spread and that wouldn't be good but for now it is panic driven hysteria here that has made markets volatile and irrational, especially today, after a second case was confirmed in the US.

With some exceptions, like Salk with polio, natural selection has solved many of the viral epidemics and all of the viral epidemics prior to 1796 (Jenner, small pox).

But if there can be an effective immunization for corona maybe it could be done as fast as the Chinese can build a hospital. Ten days they say.

It's quite easy for the virus to spread in considering Chinese culture, they have bigger families with very close ties.

Well, hopefully they do better stopping corona virus than they’ve done with swine flu. Over half their piggies are dead.

I guess climate changers probably would see a 50% cut in China’s population as good news for Mother Earth. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that...

Too many of these viruses come out of China due to their penchant for eating wild, rare and exotic animals and too many Chinese spreading them around the globe who should be in China.

Without the enormous shipments of essential materials the USA has been expecting for decades, the USA will have a serious problem to deal with the loss. The USAs medical supplies, both the simple and the complex, are rarely manufactured in the USA and shipping is 4 weeks or longer to get here, even if they were ready to ship a few hundred 100 million liter bottles os sterile water, much less have a way to put in the medicines also manufactured elsewhere.

So if the biggest manufacturers of are the China or the pacific, China will simply keep their supply, or divert shipments from the Pacific to China to deal with their need.

USA is going to be lower on that list more and more as the wealth shifts to the Pacific.

In no way is the USA in any way prepared for a epidemic or pandemic of even illness that doesn't have large scale death. A lower death rate comment of 10 or 15 percent death rate would still need to ready to bulldoze 10,000 still warm bodies every day in each state (who hopefully had died- the overwhelmed medical community will not have enough people to confirm death for many,) but we would be out of body bags so the bulldozers will be busy.

I wouldn't be wanting 'sterile water' from China.

If you have any liter bags at the hospital (often filled with saline used where most medications are used to dilute your meds, or just to make sure the patient gets too dehydrated), chances it's very likely you got plenty of China Water lol!

But some can come from Vietnam, India but I am seeing a few places from Bangledash and other slave markets, although many of those will still go to China to be labeled and sent to the USA.

There are few USA suppliers or "manufacturers" who give the even a thought to who and where those products are made and get the label. And those standards are being eliminated daily to allow are multinational owners (like GE, etc) able to have end having standards they already been eliminated for when Bush created the "Voluntary Standards" scams now.

While 1,300 cases are officially claimed, experts say aprox 4 times more than that are the real total in China.

A dozen other countries also report confirmed cases, but the news now that some people are carriers and can spreading the cases without notice (yet!).

Wow. A few weeks made this go from nothing to quarantines of 40 million people and international travel shutdowns.

Maybe it's enough? Maybe we can get some plans to build entire hospitals in 10 days! Texas alone has lost 200 hospitals, or maybe we could take few facilities working just in case?

Well, sorry for bringing scare stories on people.

I just listened to President Trump reassure Americans, and, I for one, feel utterly certainty of his full and complete information on this issue!

It's a long explanation, but it's good to know we are safe!

    So says President Trump!

So, never mind! Have a party!

    Uh, no.

Its the White Supremacists who have brain damage.

This kind of desire for murder is frequent from these Racist scum. That is routine from those people.

Another very recent issue what they want to do.

They had "one child policy" until recently, how do they have bigger families?

True, and they also pack huge amounts of animals together tightly which makes things worse.

Where did you hear that? They generally have small families, and China is decreasing in population.

This is the paper that changes its headlines, almost in real time-if its leftist base does not like it.
