More people die from the common flu every year. If your immune system is weak or HIV positive, you might be more susceptible, if you come into contact with a person who has been exposed to the virus.

Here in the US, there have only been 3 cases and all were directly exposed in China.

No cause for panic or typical media hysteria.

It's not like we need to pour money into it like Obama did in Africa with the Ebola scare.

I'd like to see what's really happening being reported but it could also cause worldwide panic as well.

 

We aren't seeing whats really happening-thats more concerning to me than the actual virus itself.

It does at first blush it does appear more virulent than other types of corona viruses like SARS & MERS. The jury is still out of whether it's as deadly.

I'm seeing 5 confirmed cases in the U.S. now.

This article says the virus has infected at least 1,975 people and killed 56 people in China since last month. That's out of millions and millions of people who live in less sanitary conditions than we do. Of course, we cannot trust China to tell the truth....but if those statistics are anywhere near being correct, then I don't think we need to panic, but just be watchful.

If you are planning on traveling outside the USA it would perhaps be wise to put a hold on it, until the scope of this is known. I'd hate to see the unthinking get stranded and can't come back in.

 

I can see that Trump doesn't care to protect US citizens by stopping flights from China...

I'd say think before going anywhere, and while CDC notices are fine, think for yourself and think three moves ahead at least.

 

Haha. I'm personally not planning to travel outside of about a 30 mile radius within Texas, so yes, I'd probably be more concerned if I were a global traveler.

Believe it or not, the State Department continues issuing travel alerts based on CDC and WHO data regardless who is sitting in the Oval Office.

Disease outbreaks are neither Democrat nor Republican....or at least they shouldn't be.

 

afaik corona does not cause a person to bleed out from the inside out like Ebola, but if it becomes known that that is the case, close all ports of entry and ground all international flights before sundown.

 

I am well aware of that yet I just couldn't resist.
