20 missions planned by the Chinese and they will be sending up another space station. What do you think, should the US be looking at doing more in Space. Before the Russians and Chinese screw things up? Work is proceeding quickly on China's planned mission to land a rover on Mars by 2020, the chief administrator of the country's ambitious space program said Friday. Formally announced in January, China's Mars voyage will attempt to recreate the success of the U.S. Viking 1 mission that landed a rover on the planet four decades ago. A source of enormous national pride, China's military-backed space program plans a total of 20 space missions this year at a time when the U.S. and other countries' programs are seeking new roles.....snip~ https://www.yahoo.com/news/china-plans-land-mars-2020-102009244.html
If they do, they will move fast once they are able to generate some sort of positive cashflow somehow. I cannot imagine they are going to this effort and cost for 'nationalism' like the 20th century space race was. Unless of course its strategic to enable their command and control over territory on Earth......
They have been quit busy up there. Check this out, what they are doing with their Satellites. This presents a problem for us, and our people need to get on top of it ASAP. http://www.politicalforum.com/warfa...space-mission-force-counter-russia-china.html
I think we're going to pretty much have to cede Mars, and the rest of the Galaxy, to the Chinese. We can't launch a mission to Mars until we can figure out the trans bathroom situation.
Did you see what they are doing with their Satellites? It looks like they are attempting to box ours in.
About their mission to Mars.....not a damn thing. Now their satellites that they are putting up in orbit around ours. Is a different story.
No, I do not encounter satellites in my drive to work, but I really do not see we have the higher ground.
Either make the Chinese one go multi-national, or do a separate US program which will be on Mars before or at least around the same time as the Chinese. Look at the Spratly's, if they get a foothold somewhere and no-one stops them, then project force from it and claim it. That done to a planet would be a disaster. Sure NASA is already on Mars, but possession is 9/10's of the law is more then the quip and a manned presence is going to trump any number of rovers.
