China will remove the constitutional restriction on the maximum number of terms the president and vice-president can serve, reports Xinhua, one of China's official news agencies. The ruling Communist Party had proposed removing the line that the president and vice-president “shall serve no more than two consecutive terms” from the constitution. Traditionally, whenever a nation scraps its presidential term limits it's a cause for potential concern. These types of constitutional maneuvers have often been prelude to one man consolidating power to rule in dictator-like fashion.

Xi reminds me of Stalin. He seems to be a fundamentally similar kind of ruler and establishing the same kind of authoritarian rule. A rule that will likely be for life.
