Well said, but the pace of ascendence would be as slow as a snail.

    1. The sun will burn out one day.

    2. Man's doomsday will arrive one day.

    3. War between the US and Russia is inevitable at a future point in time.

    4. Japan will settle scores with the US at a future point in time.

    (a) What I have said (see above) in an earlier post is no different from saying: "Everyone of us will die one day." However, sometime when we are more sure of our "intelligent guessing", like guessing the rising trend of a share in the stockmarket, we can be "a little bit more specific" in our so-called "prediction".

For instance, I have made the following quote in this forum on 7 Oct 2011.

"Here lies a wounded bear. Once recuperated, he'll be back with a vengeance." -- reedak

    (b) There are no lack of stories about dreams and their interpretations in the Bible, e.g. Joseph's famous interpretation of the Pharaoh's dream.

    Biblical Dreams

Recently, I have dreamt of "a star falling in the southeastern sky". I was curious where and when it will happen. A voice in my head seemed to have told me: "in southeast Asia this year."

Perhaps Prophet Albert and other would-be prophets can help interpret my dream.

Not to change the subject or anything, but I didn't want to start a new topic: and, it may be relevant.

Why were there not enough gunboats built for adequate defense of each point to be defended? It seems like it should have worked, had there been enough boats built. Let's assume that any major port would need a minimum of one hundred gunboats to overwhelm any capital ships with hopefully, close in cannonades.

They were variously rigged, with oars, sails, and a crew of about twenty. If the wind failed or if they were engaged in close combat, they could be propelled by oars.

One frigate had the gun power of forty gunboats, and with their thin planking and low decks exposed to gunfire, gunboats stood little chance of survival.

Gunboats, like PT boats or equivalent, could make excellent coastal pickets.

Invasion points were never known, and the few gunboats stationed at various American ports could provide only minimal defense.

They could even function as close in escorts for major ships in local defense.

Seems, to me; something like this should be justified for the common Defense and any geographical location accessible by brown-water vessels for force projection to any interior.

I make a motion for a corvette class, brown-water capable vessel.

    1. Following are excerpts from the 23 March 2015 article headlined "Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew dies aged 91" at http://xin.msn.com/en-sg/news/other...r-lee-kuan-yew-dies-aged-91/ar-BBiA5x0#page=2

    (Begin excerpts)
SINGAPORE: Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who was Singapore’s first Prime Minister when the country gained Independence in 1965, has died at the age of 91.

"The Prime Minister is deeply grieved to announce the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the founding Prime Minister of Singapore. Mr Lee passed away peacefully at the Singapore General Hospital today at 3.18am. He was 91," said the PMO.....

In Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s own words: “You begin your journey not knowing where it will take you. You have plans, you have dreams, but every now and again you have to take uncharted roads, face impassable mountains, cross treacherous rivers, be blocked by landslides and earthquakes. That’s the way my life has been.” (End excerpts)

    2. I am sad to learn of the above news. Even without any "prophet" interpretating my dream of falling star, I can guess the answer now. I dread of another dream of falling star, especially if it were my own star. Sometimes, one really hopes that a dream will never come true especially if it has something to do with oneself. If I have any more dream in the future, I hope it will be about winning lottery only.

Have you ever made a fast break shot in a game of pool? The balls fly off in many directions. The exact directions can't be anticipated. But the kinetic chaos can be anticipated by reference to an understanding of prior experience.

Understanding historical processes and resulting conflict is similar to understanding the fact that kinetic chaos will result when the cue ball strikes the other balls at the moment of break. The exact path of conflict or the exact direction of the balls can't be predicted, but chaos can.

    Winter is coming.

Well said, but I hope you are not predicting the coming of "nuclear winter".

I have never played pool, but I shall retire permanently from this forum to play it if I fail in the following two bold "predictions".

    1. Unless defeated in a war, the Russians will never be dislodged from Crimea.

    2. Due to Hak Kwai's mediocre performance and his failure to prevent Russia's annexation of Crimea, I up the ante by "predicting" that the Democrats will lose in the next presidential election.

As a Chinese saying goes, "The geomancer can 'deceive' his client for 8 to 10 years", but I can only 'deceive' my readers in less than 2 years because the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

As a matter of interest about the art of "prediction", Napoleon had the foresight and vision to "predict" the rise of modern China, but failed to "predict" his defeat in the Battle of Waterloo

In 1803 (before he became emperor), Napoleon is reported to have pointed to a map on China, saying:

"Ici repose un géant endormi, laissez le dormir, car quand il s'éveillera, il étonnera le monde" - "here lies a sleeping giant (lion in other versions), let him sleep, for when he wakes up, he will shock the world."

There is a second, more famous one, which is supposed to have been said in St Helena: "quand la chine s'éveillera, le monde tremblera" (when China wakes up, the world will shake).

The late Lee Kuan Yew (founding father of Singapore), who passed away at the age of 91 today, was well-known for his world views, vision and foresight which were sought eagerly by international leaders, including many US politicians. However, like Napoleon, not all his "predictions" turned out to be correct.

I wonder whether Albert Di Salvo is still active in this forum or he is now too busy getting ready for his "new big job".

As far back as Nov 09 2012, I had already "predicted" or "speculated" the Republican victory in the 2016 presidential election. I had posted the following in the forum.

"...In my opinion, the Americans will be tired of his 8 years of poor economic performance and will be eager to switch to the Republicans 4 years later."
    http://www.politicalforum.com/current-events/275322-cnn-iranian-jets-fire-u-s-drone-9.html

I repeated the "prediction" or "speculation" 3 years later in Mar 23 2015. Excerpts below:
