I have never seen the USA so divided and think if we cannot find some kind of common ground and work together we are in for a rough ride.

There is only one reason that civil war will become necessary; if The People no longer can use the power of the ballot box to send the scoundrels packing.

It has come to light this most recent election that the democrats are working very hard to corrupt the system so as to FIX the elections, while still keeping the appearance that the voice of The People is controlling the ultimate outcome. The democrats had absolutely NO SAY in the electoral process of their ultimate candidate, because of this corruption which was unwillingly brought to the forefront. I would think that correcting that glaring problem would be paramount to them, however I have yet to hear one single prominent democrat acknowledge it, much less suggest that there is anything wrong, at all, with the way the DNC and democrats conducted this election. The democrat electorate had absolutely no say in who their nominee was, and have lost control over their governance.

By contrast, the republicans had absolutely no control over their electoral process, as is intended. They fielded a dozen of their best candidates, and largely opposed Trump the entire time, but the electorate chose Trump anyway. Nothing the RNC could do about it..... just the way the founders intended, for better or worse.

Unless we come to a time where our government succeeds in putting into play what the democrats tried, and failed, to do; a kabuki theatre style election where, like professional wrestling, the entire thing is all just for show and the outcomes are pre-determined by some man behind the curtain.... civil war will not become necessary.

All that said, if I were a democrat, I would be absolutely livid at what my party tried to do to me in 2016. I would not be directing my anger at republicans, I would be directing my anger at the corrupt crony democrat establishment that tried to negate my power as a voter by pre-selecting the winner and colluding against the other candidates. When I talk about this to my physical democrat friends in the three-dimentional world, they tend to agree with me that their fixed primary is cause for outrage. I have a feeling that the democrats who are trying so hard to regenerate the pre-2016 corrupt establishment might be in for a rude awakening in coming elections if they choose to invest in the status-quo instead of acknowledging and fixing the corruption. And if it ever had to come to insurrection to be able oust the scoundrels, which is unlikely, people like me would stand right along side them.

I disagree. Removing that illusion of a modicum of nominal control would not be enough to get Americans to risk their lives resisting what they have been brought up to worship.

The only thing that would provoke the kind of civil war you guys are talking about is extreme hunger on a massive scale.

No war. At worst, just more violent, un-American, un-Democratic, political thugs, going to prison.

    Indeed.
Trump won because the DNC chose to run the one person he could beat.

The best way to avoid an American Civil War in the near future is for patriotic Americans to take more control of our Major Media outlets.

Once Americans have a better balance of information, they will not be so divided.

One of the best first steps is for Trump to cut off PBS and National Public Radio from federal funding, or failing that, insure there is a politically diverse group of people running them. Programming should be a 50/50 mix of liberal and conservative views.

Another step is to break-up Leftist media corporations like Viacom, Time-Warner and Comcast. Then have conservative corporations and trusts move in to gain control of a substantial proportion of the remains.

Why, as far as I remember, America was divided the same way when Bush and Gore were presidential candidates. :bye:

Things were much worse in 1860. I recall things being worse in 1967. Democrats are a slight PITA but they are only a slight inconvenience.

    I don't know, & I certainly don't know about inevitable.

I remember about 10 years ago, responding something like this, regarding the same topic.

Americans have become way too fond of today's "Things", & meaningless activities, cyber included, to anytime soon, raise up in large enough numbers, to actuate any type of civil war, pitting state versus state, & kin versus kin.... On their own.

During the Civil War the armies on both sides got involved. How is the left, the snowflakes if you will, going to organized themselves into an army? Is George Soros going to pay for an army of private citizens who can't shoot, understand nothing about fighting and have little idea of which side of a gun the bullet comes out off? Would our army join with the snowflakes or with the Trumpets? I think the latter. There will be some more riots because Soros does pay for them and the Snowflakes understand how to do that, but little else.

Pretty much correct. As long as the vast majority are "comfortable" then you will never find the 15 - 20% needed to stage a revolt against the government.

HOWEVER, what if instead we have a multi factional civil war with say liberals vs conservatives and the government somewhere in between? Something along the lines of what we see in Syria. That would be interesting.

Civil war 2061 -- '67. All I can do is write Science Fiction about it.

It would be tragic if there were anything approaching a civil war. This is still a country filled with vast resources and loaded with talented people. IMO, there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between people, regardless of party. But both parties have, over many decades, made an art out of dividing the people of this country. Both have used race as the foundation for creating those divisions. And sadly, our population, like a good little puppy dog, has allowed itself to be manipulated, and lied to, and led by the nose, to do the bidding of the elites who are the real scumbags in this festering mess. And it is they, the elites, who benefit and enrich themselves at every step. As long as WE are kept at each others’ throats, the rich can continue to pick our pockets and feast on the best this country has to offer, while leaving only bones for the rest of the population. It would take a very long thread to explore a topic like this.

But, as far as a war is concerned: Americans are so fat that the only way you could get most of them to march a mile, is to hang a giant pizza on a pole tied to their backs, and secured in such a way that the pizza dangles in front of their nose the whole time they’re marching.

I agree entirely that the Democratic party is corrupt to its core. They hand-picked the candidate and shoved her down dem voters’ throats. A nasty, stinking, candidate who most people do not like or trust. But who, over decades, with her husband Bildo, managed to take control of this sick party for the sole purpose of getting this tired old broad into the White House. The DNC has to be completely overhauled, new party leaders chosen, and a meaningful message developed — a message that is NOT based entirely on racial divisions. Something more relevant than: elect her because she has vagina. Or: Hey, it’s her turn, dammit!

But the republicans are just as corrupt, sick, and disgusting. Look at the pathetic, incompetent, Orange AH THEY elected. Worse, still, the Clown has brought into the White House the very worst kinds of avaricious vultures to be found in this country. They now control the Executive branch of our government. They, and other One Percenter slimebags, like themselves, will prosper with every misguided decision the Orange Idiot makes. They don’t care if they destroy our country as long as they make ever more money for themselves.

America is in deep shyte. But maybe we’ve finally hit bottom. Maybe it’s time for things to finally turn around. Maybe it’s time "We The People” begin trying to get along, and re-learn how to work together. Because, in the end, THAT’S the only thing that will re-energize our nation.

BTW, I'm an Independent voter. There are things I hate about both major parties. Both have huge problems and BOTH are corrupt.

Progressives are far too soft and lazy for anything like actual 'war'. The best they can do is pump their pudgy little fists and scream "keep your hate speech off this campus".

Besides, the cognitive dissonance that would ensue from something as cisgendered and patriarchal as 'manning up' would do them in before they got started.

Of course celebs could continue to use self-important and humourless grandstanding in front of crowds of the converted, as a weapon. Ashley Judd alone is as powerful as an army. I almost vomited, I laughed so hard. They can kill us with LOLs.

Say, someone above just hit upon a good idea. Let's organized movie stars into two armies. The Confederates those on the left and the Yankees on the right. The Confederate army would total about 500 people and the Union about ten. The first and only big battle would take place at Hollywood and Vine. The Union army would win hands down.
