A lot of talk lately about what happened to cause our civil war in the 1800s and how wrong it all was.

Here's a hypothetical for you to think about. I try and look at this one objectively.

You're a junior enlisted soldier (E1-E4) in the Army National Guard (this means, you enlisted to serve your state but could be put on federal orders). You are told by your chain of command that you have been placed on federal orders. Your orders tell you that your home state (I'll use mine, Massachusetts) has not complied with federal demands for 'such and such' reason. You've been ordered to go in and correct the problem. Massachusetts then says they are going to war against the federal government.

You could potentially be ordered to go fight your family and friends, in your HOME state.

Do you honor your oath and remain on orders and fight the people of your home state? Or do you honor your family and friends and fight as a rebel of the United States?

    What do you do?

Really think about this. It's a tough question. Especially if your family decides to take up arms against the US.

Question authority, the military authority to determine if it is actually authorized.

The Milgram experiments are quite consistent no matter how many times they are conducted, and you WILL kill your own family, friends, neighbors, and relatives if ordered or even asked to do so.

Think about it for a second. People have been killing other people in wars for as long as we have had wars. Young men taught to treat others with respect are sent to war and when issued an order to kill women and children do so. How many revolts were there when the firebombing of dresden and tokyo was ordered?

    Try none.

The civil war is a great example of just how that works, yet people still harbor the delusion that for some reason, we won't kill each other when told to do so.

Didn't you say you were done with the United States and supported California secession?

Oh, it will happen. The government has grown oppressive and its only going to get worse until the people have had too much.

But it won't happen for another 200 years. We're safe.

As long as your orders are legal, you follow orders. I'm sure there were soldiers in the Arkansas National Guard who didn't like enforcing a federal integration court order. They followed orders.

Stupid question. A smart military would put Guard units from other states under federal orders and send them in, avoiding the problem altogether.

    Next masturbatory fantasy?

Depends on the reason and the particular federal demands.

Nope, it doesn't matter at all.

You might want to google the milgram experiment to find out just how wrong you are.

I guess your question was answered when Founding Father George Washington marched against the American citizens of the Whisky Rebellion.

Really, I would hope that people would have a little more common sense than to start killing others over whether you can have a 20 round magazine or 10 round, or if we build a wall or not.

    I would hope.

It was answered during our own civil war when brother literally fought brother. It is answered every time somebody kills somebody else. It was answered at the concentration camps of nazi germany, the rape of nanking, when the german's marched into belgium at the beginning of ww1, the trail of tears, when our own military would napalm villages in vietnam, when Stalin's terror ordered families to spy on their own family members so they could be sent to gulags, etc. etc. etc. etc. et bloody cetera.

Whenever you hear about somebody being told to kill somebody else with no other reason than because they are ordered to do so, you have your answer as to our true nature.

Milgram experiment had to do with prison guards, not this situation.

No, it was not in a prison. The original experiment was conducted at Yale, but reproduced many many times with basically similar results. If some authority figure tells you to do something you know is lethal, you'll do it.

because civil wars have never happened in the entire history of the world?

Sorry, but you don't seem to know a great deal about history. Don't mean that as a jab, but calling civil wars "childish fantasies" requires an incredible ignorance.

What reason would it take for you to go to war against your family, friends, and your home?

if my home state has acted illegally, immorally or against the Constitution, I would follow Federal orders.

such as if my home state decided to secede from the Union in order to allow human slavery, racial Apartheid, persecution of Jews or Muslims, I would have no choice but to help the Federal govt. put down such an immoral rebellion.
