Clapper Defends Spying On Trump Campaign As ‘A Legitimate Activity’ By Julia Nista 05/21/2018 Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Monday that the FBI having an informant seek to gather information on the Trump campaign is a “legitimate activity.” He said it is “disturbing” that President Trump would call for an investigation into the Department of Justice. Clapper, currently a CNN security analyst, said he is not OK with Trump ordering an investigation into the DOJ, saying, “that’s actually a very disturbing assault on the independence of the Department of Justice.” “When this president or any president tries to use the Department of Justice as a private investigatory body, that’s not good for the country.” Clapper said he is concerned about “politicizing what is a legitimate activity, and an important one, on the part of the FBI. They use informants and have strict rules and protocols under this.” “But the big thing here is, this is not about spying on his campaign. It’s about what the Russians are doing. Were they attempting to infiltrate the campaign? Perhaps Congress should pass laws requiring that the government spy on all presidential campaigns of both sides. When a Justice System becomes corrupt, and we have evidence, Constitutional law allows for Military Tribunals to solve the crisis. Obama has left a huge stain in the fabric of America. I don't see how they can defend this. If they put a bug in the room or bugged their telephone, it would require a warrant. How is putting a person in the room under false pretenses any different?
This is blowing up big time. Its funny how the left is completely denying any wrong doing against anything Trump related. God, even they should be upset at this but they aren't. Trust me, this will be the big story coming out of all this, its piling up daily. This will make Watergate look like child's play.
The question I would have asked Clapper is, "How many other campaigns have been spied on?" But then when the person has been caught lying it's a waste of time to ask them any question.
The FBI can't even keep its story straight about when they started the investigation. Now it seems it started a month earlier than previously stated making it appear that Comey was lying to the Senate about the start date.
An OIG inspector can go over the context of the collection of intel on Trump's campaign and tell what the purpose was.
So it turns out that for much of the Obama administration we had a lying idiot as head of National Intelligence and a Communist sympathizer as head of the CIA. Nice!

If this was legitimate in the eyes of James Clapper, then I challenge him to inform us of any other political campaign in American history that was spied upon by DOJ & Intelligence operatives!
