I personally don't care one way or another if they remove the logo but if Native Americans' are for removing it, that should be the appropriate action to take.

What I don't agree with is this half measure the organization is taking. If you're removing it from the field because it's inappropriate, why are you continuing to sell merchandise? Even more, if you realize it's inappropriate, why are they waiting a full year before the change goes into effect? The organization is more or less saying, "this year, our players will be wearing racist caricatures on their uniforms."

Hmm... like anything else in this country, you will get some "affected" people who don't mind it/embrace it and some who claim to be offended by it... Doubt you will get a strong majority either way, if you could make a serious poll attempt.

Agree with you on the merchandising... I guess they want to give people a last chance to get these items (also not have to throw that stuff out).

I think the bigger question is - Will the team consider changing the team name in years to come?

    Some ideas

    Cleveland LeBrons
    Cleveland Rockers (Hall of Fame)
Cleveland Hope (Bob Hope raised there - Although at some point, it might come out that Bob Hope was a Nazi, so maybe best not go there)

    http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/ohio/cleveland/fun-facts-cleveland/

Just think it's sort of sad overall...

Doing anything positive or progressive is a very painful process for some Americans.
They're just not wired for it.

Most liberals don't want to do anything positive, they just want to do what makes them feel good which assuages the inner guilt they're harboring. And doing just about anything that's progressive is often regressive or outright stupid, and we all know it's just a matter of time before the progressives want to do something else that's positive - like having the Indians change their name completely.

Fixing things that aren't broken is what libs do and they often make things worse, see Obamacare, tranny bathrooms, $500k mortgages for people making $30,000, etc.

I wager the overwhelming majority of Natives didn’t care about this issue at all. This, like most social justice issues, was pushed by another minority group that shall remain nameless.

Conservatives are hesitant to change because nearly all change proposed by the liberals is half baked and does more harm than good.

Does the Indians changing their logo honestly effect your life at all? If not, who cares?

It probably affects me to the same extent it affects you. You still found it necessary to create a thread whining about how the logo is still going to be on merchandise.

Do you really think Natives are going to respect your crusade for social justice on their behalf?

Agreed. Take Trump's landslide victory for example.

If you read my OP, you would notice my issue is with how the club is approaching the issue. They're basically removing it from the field because it's "inappropriate" but will wait a year before doing so and will continue to sell the merchandise. Either do it all the way or don't - this half-measure nonsense is hypocritical.

It's a response to being told certain Americans find progressiveness painful.

The Indians changing their logo is nothing more than political correctness run amok, it pointless since it only applies to the uniforms, and doesn't do a darn thing for anyone - it's just a stunt.

The article clearly states the views of people/organization's that find it inappropriate. Just because you don't find it inappropriate doesn't mean others don't. And it surely isn't "political correctness run amok."

Apparently not as much as leaving it alone effects yours.

Actually it IS political correctness run amok. Tell me how this hasn't been a problem for 103 years but now suddenly is?

And this is where political correctness runs amok. If others find the logo inappropriate then it must be eliminated, but I think it's inappropriate to call a boy a girl just because and I get slammed for that. It comes down to either going along with the left or being relentlessly attacked.

The article clearly states "three generations." How is three generations "suddenly?" Again, reading comprehension problems?

No. So since it's not broke and doesn't need to be fixed, it needs to be left the way it has been since 1915.

You say it's not broke. Others disagreed. The club half-assed sided with the others.

When did you first hear about this? In the last administration, imagine that. I guess you could consider that 3 generations ago though, some of you lefties (if you admit to actually being one since it's no longer trendy anymore) act like the country started in 2008.

Do you have problems comprehending factual comparisons?
