This is what happens when you look for clicks instead of accurately reporting what the actual paper says. This happens a lot. This on Twitter.

Compare the certainty in the promotional tweet below with what @KieranBhatia (lead author) says: “our results are suggestive but in no way conclusive. Very important distinction” Science has a hype problem when it comes to climate. If it bleeds it leads[IMG]

A study published in @NatureComms reports that the proportion of tropical cyclones that rapidly intensify recently increased in the Atlantic basin, and that his trend is likely due to anthropogenic forcing. https://go.nature.com/2GxXMF4

I don't really think science has a hype problem. Sure, there is hype here and there in some manuscripts, but I don't really see it as a widespread problem. The media on the other hand definitely has a hype problem and it is widespread. That cuts both ways. It's a problem on the alarmist side and on the skeptical side of the issue.

The problem is that the alarmists are giving ammo to the skeptics. I am one those who believe in climate change but don't think its going to be the end of the world like the alarmists do. The alarmists have made so many hyperbolic predictions that have not come true and anytime you engage with a skeptic they just list off the myriad times that the alarmists flat out lied. Frankly I don't blame people for being skeptics when you have pages of predictions that didn't occur from those ****ing ******* alarmists. They are doing far more harm than good..oh hell they are literally doing no good at all.

The second group that I blame are what I called "symbolic environmentalists" They actually think treaties like Kyoto and the most recent Paris Accords are actually solving anything. There is a reason that literally every country in the world cept the US and Syria for some reason didn't sign on and that is because it is an entirely useless and toothless agreement that doesn't even take effect till 2030. WTF?

Yeah. I agree with you. The Al Gore types do more harm than good in my opinion. It's definitely not going to be the end of the world.
