The EPA is moving to regulate CO2 emissions, as required by law. That's one reason why the GOP wants to dismantle the agency.

Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House roof. Ronald Reagan removed them. I could mention a dozen other examples, but unless you've been living in a cave for the past 40 years, so could you.

"Drill baby drill" started when there were already viable alternatives.

Nope. Reducing atm. CO2 to 350 ppmv should be enough.

The European plan was put in place to meet Kyoto targets, which it has done. I agree that more needs to be done. So do most Europeans.

Or they could build LFTR, as I have advocated, in which case your entire argument falls apart. The real Chicken Littles in this debate aren't the environmentalists, it's the doomsayers like you who run around predicting doom from taxation. That's just plain nutty.

I can see why americanprogress.org doesn't have faith in the markets, but I can't see why you share their lack of faith. The idea of cap & trade is to force fossil carbon to price itself out of the energy market. That doesn't mean shortages and it doesn't mean price rises. It just means price rises for one specific option in the market, but not the market as a whole. The market will insure that cheaper alternatives are used, which is exactly the outcome we want.

Texas is already giving away electricity for free on windy nights. The same is happening in Germany. Real-world data is already showing that renewables are lowering electricity prices, not increasing them.
