I used to joke that liberal media would regard what Trump had for breakfast as "breaking news" and then proceed to make salty mouth foaming outrage about it.

And now the butthurt behind that humor is on display.

CNN, a network that would interrupt live footage of dinosaurs landing on Mars to "report" on a "source" that claims Trump looked at Russia on a map once, has proven once more again just how pathetic it is - and shall continue to be.

We of course have always expected liberal rags to omit details about the Islamic nature of terrorism.

But to not report on the terrorism, when doing so could potentiality save lives, is just careless.

And to refuse to do so because they wanted to spend a full hour ranting about Trump's love for soda ...is as pathetic as it is vile.

While I agree that the “story” about what Trumps drinks was ridiculous, I’m not convinced the usual total coverage of the attack within minutes of it happening would have been any better. At that point it would be the usual announcer giving the limited information, then anchor repeats the same information, then reporter on the scene repeats the same information then an “expert” in the studio repeats the same thing and pads out with some dramatic speculation and finally some partisan talking head comes on to kick off the blame game based on that speculation or their own.

It was the leading headline at that point and updates of actual confirmed new information should be reported but the whole ”drop everything and stare at the situation until something happens” system the broadcasters currently use strikes me as wrong on many levels.

When did Trump send his tweet disputing the report that he watched up to 8 hours of TV a day?

How does that timing compare to when the attack took place?

CNN is the magazine rack in the check stand line at the supermarket tabloid of the cable "news" infomercials.

So you think that there shouldn't be any other news coverage while we wait to learn more about the pipe bomb attack in NYC?

There's nothing wrong with Diet Coke, but for an adult to drink 12 cans a day is stupid.. That level of consumption contributes to obesity and stroke.

He was a radical Islamist Muslim that came to the US on chain migration, remember that when the Democrats in Congress insist on it.

Of course it’s significant, though any explosion in a public place is significant (and of course, at the time nobody knew what the cause was). As I said, it should be reported as and when actual factual information comes though (and the OP article isn’t entirely clear on what CNN actually reported and when).

I was challenging the idea that news programs should drop everything and have constant coverage of an incident even when they have absolutely no new information to provide as they have a tendency to do. I suspect that even now, it would be possible to cover all the confirmed public information about this attack in a minute or so but I’m sure all the broadcasters are spending hours covering it all the same, repeating the same things over and over or, and this is the worse aspect, making stuff up to fill the time.

    It is what it is.

The media does what it can to get viewers, especially these days. I understand why they would cover such an event. If it bleeds it leads.

But why do you object? Is it because it interferes with the constant smear campaign against the POTUS?

I’m talking about what they should do, not what they actually do. Both the long, empty coverage of ongoing incidents (again, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be reported at all) and the obsession with non-stories like what Trump drinks are part of the same problem, ironically the “anything to get viewers” motive you highlighted.

I’m objecting to both. You seem to be objecting to one but accepting of the other which strikes me as inconsistent.

For proper journalism, what media chooses to cover reflects what the public regards as important.

For CNN liberal hackery, what they choose to cover (or not cover) reflects the agenda they need to push.

CNN saw another Muslim terrorist attack unfolding and thought "damn this will take focus off Trump hate and maybe even Roy Moore" and so they chose to ignore it.

For comparison however if you think back to the Charlottesville incident CNN had its on-scene people doing exactly what you stated - repeating the same lines over and over and over and over over.

"white male, white nationalist, white people, attack, peaceful protest, wahhh racism, wahh trump encouraged it, wahh russia" (oops that last one slipped in)

They were already broadcasting before police and rescue even got on the scene so you have to figure that was probably 10-15 minutes after it happened.

And they stayed on that scene repeating the same lines for hours.

Everybody breaks into regular coverage when events like these happen.

    Its a decades old standard.

CNN heard "new york" and "bomb" and they knew ...they knew ...Muslims.

At that point they had two options: Pull the plug on the satellite feed, or bash Trump.

Twisted.. NO news outlet backed off the NYC bombing or the fact that he was a Bangladeshi Muslim.

Yes, I am. I find the ongoing smear campaign useless and a waste of time. Terrorist attacks on the other hand is a real issue that needs to be reported.

I doubt the smear campaign is getting as many viewers as a terrorist attack. But I guess the liberal sychophant machine needs to stay in practice for next election.

cmon guys give CNN a break, they were just broadcasting to their target audience. A CNN viewer isnt going to grasp a breaking story about a terrorist attack, they can only comprehend stories about Trump drinking soda. They would change the channel back to Jerry Springer if they saw a breaking story about a possible terrorist attack. Im surprised CNN hasnt started running DNA test segments on who the real father is during their news in order to keep their viewers focused.

I read this AM that Trump is furious with Nikki Haley for saying his accusers should be heard.
