I have always been against our litigious society since law suits produce nothing, except of course when money is needed to cover an illness or disability. I kind of like this one though since it might put the fear of God into those who have no fear, and couldn't care less what they say or do to others as long as it serves their own self interests.

This case is a perfect example, and hopefully it will make the MSM rethink the lies and calumny that is so much a part of their policies. What is humorous is that a few days ago CNN had the audacity to accuse FOX News of fake news - not that FOX has been so honest either.

CNN is about to be sued for more than $250 million for spreading fake news about 16-year-old Covington High School student Nicholas Sandmann.

Sandmann was viciously attacked by left-leaning news outlets over a deceptively edited video clip from the January March for Life rally at the Lincoln Memorial, in which the MAGA-hat-wearing teenager appeared to be mocking a Native American man beating a drum. Around a day later, a longer version of the video revealed that Sandmann did absolutely nothing wrong – after the media had played judge, jury and executioner of Sandmann’s reputation.

CNN will be the second MSM outlet sued over their reporting of the incident, after Sandmann launched a $250 million lawsuit against the Washington Post in late February.

Speaking with Fox News host Mark Levin in an interview set to air Sunday, Sandmann’s attorney, L. Lin Wood, said “CNN was probably more vicious in its direct attacks on Nicholas than The Washington Post. And CNN goes into millions of individuals’ homes. It’s broadcast into their homes.”

They said the same thing when Trump got sued over Trump University.

I would imagine he gets a super huge judgement, then it is reviewed, severely slashed and provided he collects, takes a scaled back amount. How much can you damage a teens reputation?

    Neither do most legal scholars

The insane amount is to a) gain publicity for the law firm and b) hope for a settlement.

More agitprop from the Duran, this time taking another pot shot at the legitimate news outlets. In addition to promoting alt-right disruptive political parties and candidates, their MO also includes a sustained campaign against the real news in their ongoing efforts to confuse and disrupt western societies to the benefit of their eastern authoritarian bosses and paymasters.

Having seen CNN's reporting about this "fake news," of course I must disagree with how this fake news article characterizes that reporting. They reported what facts were available to them at the time, and they updated their reporting as more information became available. Most importantly, however, they did not editorialize about the students in question, nor did they purposely ignore facts and craft a narrative around other selected facts the way the Duran and other fake news outlets regularly do. You see, they - the Duran, Breitbart, The Gateway Pundit, and the like - treat the truth like a block of material to be carved into what they want it to be. They leave out the information that does not serve their purposes and create a work of art - a false narrative - with what remains.

According to the lawyer only part of the video was shown so as to incriminate the boy, no doubt because he was wearing a MAGA hat. This reminds me of the time the airliner was shot down in Ukraine. The MSM showed a video of one of the militants holding up a teddy bear, so as to give the illusion he considered it a trophy.

What they didn't show, and what a German satire revealed later on, was the same militant placing the bear gently where he found it, and then bowing his head in prayer.

Anyway now that I'm on the subject, in an Australian video, someone told the commander at the wreckage that there was another jet shot down and he was given orders to find the pilot quickly before he could get away.

I think in this case it comes to a little bit more than just a monetary settlement. It's time we had some legislation that will curb the news outlets from their excesses. This constant deception is not fair to the American people.

What did CNN do that was deceptive? They reported on the news as they gathered it including front page articles when the full videos were discovered.

Please. Teenagers in their millions have been getting their reputations trashed for generations, but teenagers are a rather easily redeemable lot, especially if they are surrounded by a loving, faith based community. Wouldn't you say?

They reported on the news they were given. What false information did they know was false and reported on?

    Specifically, what story or article.

I have asked this same question of multiple posters and zero have answered it. Maybe you can

It is time to make news media, commentary news, and social media responsible for accusing people of things they didn't do.

The internet is a bad thing, unless we can regulate it. I wish it had never been invented.

Excuse me, I raised four kids, not to mention have my own direct friggin' experience with redemption of reputation and such as a teenager. But I get the cash grab and the political hay. An attempt at another 15 minutes of fame, I guess.

A far left activist group had posted a video of 16 year old Nicholas Sandman grinning at the American Indian activist Nathan Phillips’ and it was picked up by CNN, Washington Post, etc., and they started a defamation campaign against Sandmann and his family. None of it was true.

    This is what happened:

Sandmann's class was attending the March for Life rally, and were waiting for their buses at the Lincoln Memorial to take them back to Kentucky.

Four African American protesters on the steps of the Memorial began calling them “racists,” “bigots,” “white crackers,” “******s,” and “incest kids.” They also taunted an African American student and told him that they would "harvest his organs".

Since they were being attacked and taunted, one of the students asked the chaperone if they could start the school spirit chants they use at sporting events to counter the taunts. The chaperone said it was okay.

They chanted loudly so as to drown out the insults and taunts, but at no time was there anything racist in them. After a few minutes some Native American protestors who Sandmann hadn't noticed before approached their group. They had drums and were accompanied by someone with a camera.

The protestor that was seen in the video on CNN began playing his drum as he went into the crowd. Everyone let him pass, and no one tried to block his path. He locked eyes with the student and approached him, coming within inches of his face. He played his drum the entire time he was in his face.

Sandmann didn't interact with him and couldn't understand why he approached him. They had already been yelled at by one group of protesters and with the second group he felt the situation was getting out of hand so he remained motionless and calm, hoping it would diffuse the situation.

He noticed that everyone had cameras and felt that a group of adults were trying to provoke a group of teenagers into a fight. Sandmann began to pray silently that the situation would not get out of hand.

During the period of the drumming, a member of the protestor’s entourage began yelling at a fellow student that they had “stole their land” and that they should “go back to Europe.” One of the students began to respond and Sandmann tried to get him to stop engaging with the protestor, so the tensions would calm down.

He began to realize that the Native American protestor had singled him out for a confrontation, but he didn't know why. The engagement ended when one of their teachers told him the busses had arrived and it was time to go.

Interesting case. Should Sandmann have any success - Assad should do the same - asking for far more money though .. 500 Billion instead of 250 million ;)
