I watch college football, because it always keeps you hooked. I think GA will be in the SEC championship this year, what about you all? We could get another rematch of AL and GA. FL still has to be rebuilt and TN is just crap.
Here's Sporting News' Way Too Early Top 25 for 2018 (June 25): 1. Alabama 2. Clemson 3. Georgia 4. Ohio State 5. Oklahoma 6. Wisconsin 7. Washington 8. Auburn 9. Notre Dame 10. Penn State 11. Okay, 63-14 OU stomps a team that won it's last 11 games including a bowl last year, Pulled starters 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter with the score 42 - 0. Ok looked very good. Find out something more after UCLA next week maybe.
I’ve stopped watching this Bama game because Louisville is getting curb stomped like there’s no tomorrow.
hey guys, do me a favor if you please - identify this college football "stadium" for me: I came across this pic on a site that dealt with the game of college football but it did not identify the school. Honestly, it looks more like a municipal play ground and I wonder if it really is a venue that would meet the approval of the NCAA.
What website? I've never seen such a horrible NCAA venue. Even JUCO venues (let alone high school too) hold more. The goal posts are very outdated. Plus there are two random towers next to the field. I doubt this is a real NCAA venue EDIT: If those are lights on the towers, they are still in an awkward position
Any Badger fans here on PF? The fact that your lineup includes very few Gophers is quite impressive: https://uwbadgers.com/roster.aspx?path=football I note that your WR is from Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn: https://uwbadgers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6168&path=football That school produced many great scholastic teams over the years.
you make some good point which is why I doubted its authenticity - but here is the link: https://www.campusexplorer.com/college-advice-tips/0B7C3932/Smallest-College-Venues/
I'd be surprised if that's the "stadium" used. Thanks for posting the link. That needs to be looked into...lol. Poor kids trying to play football in 2018 but living in 1956
Yeah, I saw that game vs Virginia Tech. Joining the ACC for football did a great deal of good for that school's football team.
That new FSU coach has to go. He made the worst calls I've ever seen. They hurry-upped when the booth was going to review their OWN touchdown! Coach's orders. Not only that, but a bunch of horrible calls.
Yeah, that was an awful call. FSU has consistently gotten top 10 recruiting classes but it did not finish in the Top 25 for D I schools last year. With all that talent you would at least expect a top 10 finish so that the only conclusion you can come to is that the coaching staff failed to engineer a Championship team.
A good topic for discussion. It should as no big surprise as to why so many ticket go unsold or why seats are lacking fannies. The cost of tickets are (to my understanding) in the area of $130-150.00 per ticket (some big time games costs exceed $200). This does not include the cost of parking, foods, concession stand items, programs, or hotel costs for those who need to stay overnight. With all these expenses, the costs can be well over $1,000 per game for a family of four. How in God's name can anybody afford to pay for all that for just one game??? Now imagine what the cost would be for an entire season! For an activity that is supposed to be fun, family oriented entertainment, this is beyond ridiculous. I well remember conversing with a lady many years ago who tried to get a season pass to football games at University of North Carolina which was her alma mater. She told me that her name would be put on the waiting list to qualify if she gave a $500 contribution to the school's alumni fund - mind you this was over 35 years ago. Imagine what the contribution would be like today! There is a simple solution to all this - the NCAA needs to pass a rule that starting head coaches should not be paid any more than a full professor. Not one cent more. Reduce operating costs and ticket costs will be drastically reduced thereby making the game more family friendly and accessible. College sports are supposed to be amateur activities, not professional. If players cannot be paid then this rule should apply to coaches, trainers, staff as well.
So, first question, have you seen what some "full professors" make these days? Just wondering. Second, the money generated from the TV deals pays for so much more than just the sports teams. Go to any SEC school and witness the amazing housing that has been built as a result of the revenue coming in from football. Until the advent of monetized TV agreements, schools had struggled to provide decent modern housing to their students... I agree. College sports are amateur activities. Football isn't any different. There just happen to be a huge number of alumni and fans who are actually willing to pay and are reliable viewers of the games. And why not? At least it's interesting, can be hugely unpredictable (just ask Penn St after they almost lost to App State....) and doesn't become a function of whosever sports book for the weekly outcomes..
Excellent points you make for sure. One thing to keep in mind is, some people take a football (or any sport they love) program into consideration when making their college choice. I know I did
