I've been looking for companies that don't mistreat their factory workers and I have drawn a blank. Surprisingly everyone cares more about the piggies and cows than they do children in Indonesia. Does anyone know of a place or a way that I could use to isolate the more humane companies. If it means anything, it doesn't have to be made in America just (relatively) ethically.
i think it would be safe to just look at the nation of origin. if it's somewhere you'd consider vacationing and not worry about the police making you disappear, go for it.
I try not to buy anything that is sold by a corporation that does not have decent working conditions for its employees, or that overworks its minimum wage workers. This is one of the reasons I try very strongly to avoid buying anything that was made in China.
From the point of view of the children working in the sweat shops of Bangladesh, they are proud of it, and they say that working in the sweat shop is their way out of the domestic abuses of their agricultural families.
First question: why are you looking? Second question: once you find out, then what? Somehow this sounds "loaded".
