fact is that the masses have been program to stand for union and communistic new world order of anti slavery, but in reality there just salves to those in control of a program, beyond there emotional capability to think logical, for a freedom mindset of there own.

but isn't that just a representation of a group of people, that WHO has a different view of yours, and your mind just wants to counter it, the only way it can..

I think that treaty was put together more to appease the Muslims so they wouldn't keep attacking our merchant ships, which they were doing quite frequently.

You know that Bush has been accused of what Lincoln did. Suspend Habeas Corpus.

The States Rights is still a valid ongoing issue and most wars have been fought over economic issues, the Civil War was no different.

This does not mean I agree with slavery, a pox on America, but just the general philosophy of States Rights.

The treaty basically meant America was not a theocracy, or that its politics were overly influenced by faith like the Europeans governments were. Most of the founders were agnostic or preferred to worship god in their own way instead of following organized religion (particularly Benjamin Franklin and Jefferson). The point was to show the Muslims we would not go to war with them because of religion. We would not form a BS crusade.

The display of the Confederate flag remains controversial because it was used by violent protesters during the civil rights era in the 1960s, which tarnished the image of the historical flag forever. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley decided to keep the Confederate flag atop the north end of the Statehouse in Columbia and the official use of the flag could restore its proper place as a part of the American South's history.

Might as well put a nazi flag up to and try and convince people it is not a symbol of hate but just represents German independence.

Sadly, the south is still full of seditious people who can't get over losing the Civil War or their slaves.
Some places in the south refused to celebrate the 4th of July for over 70 years following the Civil War.
The rebel flag is the symbol of their lost power, and they prefer to nurse their grudges rather than show grace in defeat and move on, like the Japanese did after WW2.

The rebel flag, like the swastika, is eternally linked with bigotry and racism.
Stubbornly displaying it won't magically transform it into some bland historical curiosity any more than Germans flying the swastika would rehabilitate that symbol of hate.
Displaying the rebel flag is like saying God (*)(*)(*)(*) America.

That doesn't make it 'right' to do. And you are blessed, that you have the legal freedom to do so.

No, he's "American"... but I feel he's one we have the freedom to disagree with.

And it is CLEAR that some Americans are using it to propagate the same; doing ALL that they can to stop healing and reconciliation which has plagued this nation since slavery or other forms of inhumanity to man began.

You are correct. It is time for ALL Americans to move on and step into the present, then future. Trying to HOLD or suspend this nation within and era clear passed, is the worst thing we could do. Everything we've seen in the last 100+ years, tells us that we need to go forward, not look back to what we will never reach again. That looking back in an effort to reach the past, is nothing but foolishness mired in futility. We should learn the lessons of the past, but not try to relive the same.

If we weigh the cost of all the hatred and subsequent racism over the years... how could God NOT see it as a millstone DELIBERATELY wrapped around this nation's neck, as we readily jump into the sea?!

I have the firm belief that those who cling to the past, are like a person who FREEZES while driving a car or even flying a plane. :( Their inability or perhaps unwillingness to move in time... is a sure recipe for disaster; tragedy that might surely be avoided.

The south really is a hinderance on the rest of the country with their backwards, racist, and hateful ways. They are going to have to accept the fact they lost the Civil War and their version of states rights was trashed.

Think about it... with the exception of a minimal number of families, the Confederate Flag has little or no meaning (certainly no 'positive' meaning).

The Confederate Flag is a racist flag of genocide, just like the Stars and Stripes. Anyone who flies either flag is a racist who celebrates the rape of the native Americans.
