The vote will almost certainly trigger a US law, passed in 1990, which bars the US from funding any United Nations agency "which accords the Palestine Liberation Organisation the same standing as member states." The US provides about $80 million per year, or 22 per cent of the agency's total budget.

 

That is absolutely brilliant ! You know, there aren't many occasions when one's faith in human nature gets a lift but this is one such, as was the Egyptians' rejection of Mubarak. Those countries which approved Palestine as a full member can be proud of their contribution to world peace. Any that opposed it have a loooooooooong way to go before they even deserve to be UNESCO members themselves.

Of course the sun will rise and set if the US were to "disappear"...but many folks,millions and millions and millions across the globe will be far worse off than they were before the US was gone,as the sun passes them overhead.

The only one trying to fool anyone is you by claiming the good the US does, and its significant,doesnt outweigh the bad...and there most certainly has been bad,but it is minimal.

I dont beleive there is another nation more generous than the US when it comes to foreign aid and private philanthropy.

Israel is NOT a sovereign state! It's a bogus, client, state of the US. It CANNOT possibly survive even for a single extra summer if MASSIVE AND DIRECT US aid were withdrawn from it! What kind of "sovereignty" is that?

That said, I don't advocate the destruction of Israel - nor do I believe, despite the rhetoric of some, that ANYONE wants the physical destruction of Israel. But I do believe there are MANY around the world, and I confess to being one of them, who would like to see the dismantlement of a Zionist-dominated Israel - in the same way that Nazi-dominated Germany and Apartheid-dominated South Africa were dismantled. I think that is a goal that MUST be achieved! Also for the sake of Israelis themselves - as well as the region at large!
