Has anyone noticed that Social Progressives have coopted the Civil Rights movement, trying to turn it into all about racism rather than civil rights, which the movement was actually originally mainly about?

A better question would be is where would the Civil Rights movement be if left to conservatives?

It was about civil rights for minority citizens. It would be difficult to completely ignore the race component. Poor white people were not kept from eating establishments or forced to ride at the back of the bus.

Do you think that's what the civil rights movement was really mainly about? Black people not being allowed to sit at certain bus seats or eat at certain restaurants with racist owners?
You've been misinformed or deceived about what "civil rights" were actually about.

They're not what you read in your school history textbook, most likely.

Here, if this helps, imagine the issue of civil rights without race issues.

(Yes, I realize race issues were closely connected to the civil rights movement, but the issue wasn't primarily directly about race)

No, the "Socially Progressive" historians who occupy positions in academic departments and write the textbooks.

The civil rights movement was not so much about racism, or at least that's only a half truth, it was more complex than that. (A little like the claim that the civil war was all about slavery)

The main civil rights Blacks were fighting for wasn't the right to eat in a restaurant owned by a racist white man.
They weren't fighting to have their children go to White schools either. (Mostly another Liberal initiative)

You claim to know what it isn't - and you claim to have greater knowledge than professors and historians ... but I guess it's your little secret.

Stay cautious. Yes, you could be viewed as guilty here of "co-opting" the great Ann Coulter's words which I hath posted on this website for months now:

Although I do find it interesting if your post deluded to the 60's Civil Rights Movement not being about racism. When it was exactly about racism.

I don't understand. In the USA civil rights and race issues are one in the same.

Thanks to a concerted effort by the Left in the USA over several decades to conflate the two.

Unfortunately the protection of humans' Civil Rights in this country, are governed by Race, as according to American Life. Therefore since the past 155yrs in the USA, verifies that a citizens' Race does dictate how well-protected a citizens' civil rights will be; it makes total sense that civil rights correlate to Race.

And yes, you are correct that Blacks were not just fighting for the right to eat in a restaurant owned by a racist white man nor just for their children to go to White schools. They were fighting for the, death, of evil White-Racism which created both of those racist realities and many other racist realities.
