    First the good news:

Several sources of science are finding that SARS is relatively slow to mutate in ways that would invalidate a vaccine. Developing a vaccine that is DOA would be a huge dissappointment to say the least.

    https://hub.jhu.edu/2020/06/10/sars-cov-2-dna-suggests-single-vaccine-will-be-effective/

    Then, the NOT so good:

It appears that mutations are dramatically increasing the number of "spikes" a SARS virus has for attaching to a human cell - by a factor of 4 or 5. That probably makes the virus more communicable.

Also, mutations have produced more flexibility in the spikes, thus they are less likely to break and render the virus less capable (or incapable) of infecting target cells.

These changes make it less likely that viruses will simply be shed out of the system by natural processes in humans. Thus this virus is probably becoming more contagious.

It's time to discuss what others are secretly whispering: It's a biochemical weapon unleashed by the Chinese government. The way this virus is adapting to be more communicable to humans, and its capacity to attack all of our vital functions is not a natural disease(and they can find no natural comparison), because of its man made origins.

Of course, the question then is what to do with the Chinese, who just barely 'allowed' inspections but we should learn from the Iranian debacle. We need to double and triple check everything, and get the UN/International courts involved.

There has been consant study of where this virus came from.

There is not evidenc of this being a bio attack by a foreign power.

We should be really happy about what the Wuhan laboratory is doing. They've been searching out and studying SARS throughout a large region of Asia. They've found other cases of SARS (not just the two that have so far escaped). There are cases of mines in China where mining communities have been hit hard years ago.

By now they have found huge numbers of SARS varients in existece in the animal world.

We need them to make progress on factors involving those varients moving into the human population.

I'm always astonished that people would accept that idea that someone in China would infect the Chinese population in hopes that it would spread to the rest of the whole world.

i just don't see a way for that to be a plan by anyone..

    International COURTS???

    About WHAT?

We already have good contact with the Wuhan lab.

You are WAY outside the OP here.

If you want to create a conspiracy theory thread you should get your citations and start a thread.

That's the proper direction according to threadrules - instead of attempts at hijacking serious discussion.

Complain some more, I can respond to a thread you(or anyone else makes), anyway I want. The only thing I can't do, is create said thread here. But I can certainly interject the opinion, there isn't a rule against that in the sticky.

I don't see any significant restrictions on topics.

There's even a forum for conspiracy theories!!

It's time to discuss what others are secretly whispering: It's a biochemical weapon unleashed by the Chinese government. '[/QUOTE]Sure thing! Lol.

So even the Trump-nut who have publically claim Clinton and her friends had a special pizza parlor for child sex parties in non-existent basements have to whisper, well, not just whisper but actually "secretly whisper", well, not TOO "secretly whisper" because this "secret whisper" is on Political Forum! Lol!

Except for the research showing the pretty clear of the origins, none of which is "man-made".

I was not aware of China's commitment to allow the USA to "inspect" China's medical care. And what does any of this have to do with the agreed-upon treaty (now abrogated by the USA) with Iran and much of the rest of the world?

And why does China need to "get checked and triple checked" by the USA or UN or International Courts, which Trump has also abrogating these courts because he doesn't like them (or something, who knows?)

These utter nutcase claims by the Trump and his Republican whackjob are busy not just making the enemies of America looking sane, but USA's allies now are concerned about involved with the USA and USA's President and his morally bankrupt Republicans trolls.

    Amen.

The Wuhan lab has enjoyed support from America and has been working on EXACTLY what we would want them to be working on.

We need to know more about SARS, and that lab has been working on that.

Think what it would mean if we could figure out how to slow or prevent SARS type virusus (of which there is a seemingly endless supply in nature) from crossing to the human poputation, or find ways to combat SARS iin the NONhuman community rather than waiting untill it starts in our the human population.

This is a world wide issue and SARS is certainly not the only place where deadly viruses exist.

And, the idea of hurting WHO when we need them could not be more ignorant.

I don't know if this is true or not but I do know some people believe not that it is 'man' made and deliberately released but that it was 'man' played with and accidentally released. I was listening to a scientist talk about it a week or two ago. He believes it definitely is a 'man' meddled with virus. He gave two convincing reasons only one of which I can partially remember and that was that this virus is far more easily transmitted among humans. It was far harder for animals to catch it. He says this just does not go with a virus which has just recently spread from animals to humans. It ought to spread far more easily among animals and less easily among humans. He was asked why there was such a strong voice from scientists saying that it defo was not lab created and he again gave a convincing answer which I can't quite remember but seemed to have something to do with if they did that they would find a demand was made on them to do go through a far longer process of testing. Given that he believed that they were not open to looking at this until they had no choice.

The US had been doing experiments here. There is no reason to suspect either the US or China released it deliberately - ah! remembered more of why the scientists were slow in saying it might have escaped from a lab - it would demand they did a lot more work making sure everything was safe - that sort of thing. They would of course do it if it was proved this was what happened but they were not keen to make it so, so until evidence showed that this was what happened they would say no.

The US of course also went through a plan of spreading a virus in a very similar way to covid 19 spread last year. We don't as yet know the answer to this.

Again, that rule only relates to creating threads. It doesn't relate to a singular post. And as proof, not a single mod has objected otherwise(and the language is kind of clear, but what rocks your boats.) I mean, you can feel free to ask them.

    Thank you for this information.

I wonder if it will be possible to work backwards with the sample data and their locations and determine when and where this mutation occurred and which places it then subsequently infected.

For example we know that the hotspots on the East and West coasts were dramatically different and right now we are seeing increasing numbers of infections in states that have opened up.

Knowing which strain is predominate in an area would mean knowing what to expect and thereby adopt different mitigation levels.

    WRONG!

It specifically applies to POSTS rather than only OP's!

The Guardian has a review of this which I think puts it more simply

    (way down page)

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/l...xtraordinary-period-as-it-races-to-contain-ne

So not yet peer reviewed but hopefully sound.

I had thought it was too easy to catch already!!

By all means then, get a moderator to come in and delete the 'offending' message.

Surely we can solve this by choosing to cooperate.
