    1) I have to side with Trump and say I wont voluntary were a mask in public, as the recommendation is voluntary on the federal level BUT--- See below>>

    2) Most of what the CDC and the President has stated are recommendations that are being administered by state and local governments in different ways throughout the country. As this has been recommended, will more localities go to the EXTREME mandate that Laredo Tx. has?

Leaders lead by example. And how many world leaders, kings and queens, will be visiting the Oval during this crisis?

At this point, no one can buy an masks so any mask we use will have to be homemade, which also means they are far less effective. I am not sure how good they will do. I'm just staying away from public mostly. Once a week I'll go to the store for groceries in my small store but other than that, I live out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by thousands of acres of forest land.

we did order some masks on fleabay on Thursday, but they can only help so much, not exactly high quality.

I'm think my best mask is the closed front door. and I've been doing an average job at that, I really need to cut down on food trips, I say this as i'm making a shopping list . dammit.

Laredo is only mandating that you at least use a homemade mask, scarf, bandanna or handkerchief or you will be fined. I think it would be up to localities what would be appropriate if mandated, could get expensive if they go to far.

Doubtful there will be any. If they do, you can be sure they have been tested.

The greatest benefit of wearing a mask is that it prevents you/reminds you to not touch your face/mouth. It doesn't need to be N95 - and the public should be leaving them for healthcare professionals.

If your store allows it, buy two of what you need to hold you over longer. Get lots of staples like big bags of potatoes, rice, ground meat, etc. that you can create a dinner with easily.

I have some of those cloth face masks, sort of like bikers will wear that you can easily pull up or down, than can double as 10 different things. They are camo since they are mostly used to block wind out of our face for hunting deer. I'll use those if I feel I should.

All good suggestions. And to the poster that you replied, he/she should really make more of an effort to keep the grocery shopping down to one day a week, and make that trip when they open the doors in the morning. There's less people and usually the store has been cleaned in the overnight interim, they also do re-stocking during the closed hours so you're more likely to find what you need.

Keep a distance, don't touch your face, wipe everything you buy with a Clorox wipe or a cloth with alcohol on it before you bring them in the house.

they are mandating that because there aren't enough of the real masks. if we had plenty vs a shortage, they would be mandating real masks. The govt is lying because the truth is too difficult to tell.

I've cut down from 7-10 trips a week to 3. it's a process, I havent been able to whittle down further, yet. phase 2 is making dishes that will serve as leftovers for acouple days, which will help me resist temptation to travel.

late last week a huge pot of red sauce and meatballs, froze a bunch if sauce and meat, earlier this week it was baked ziti with same sauce, thursday it was pork tenderloin with veggies, today will be a massive pot of chili, then I'm thinking chicken soup maybe Tuesday then cabbage rolls on Friday.

    I've been a cooking machine!

it helps pass the time, stuff that I normally only make on special occasions or 3 day weekends.

Just remember that two out of those 3 trips you make may be the trips where you will become infected. Keep it at a minimum, it's possible, I've been doing this for more than one month already. If people only realized that coronavirus is extremely resiliant and can remain on surfaces for hours and possibly days. So remember that in the canned food aisle. How many people passed through there, and perhaps they sneezed, or blew their nose or coughed then touched a few cans of crushed tomatoes but put them back. There's the source of infection, that can of tomatoes, or carton of milk or juice or jar of peanut butter. I wipe everything imagining that every item is contaminated, whether it is or whether it's just perfectly fine.

I understand, but wife works at an airport . contact with others is virtually unavoidable indirectly without drastic cleansing procedures 5x a week, which isnt happening.

but I'll keep trying to make positive steps in the right direction.

    It is spelled "wear".

Just another example of trump killing Americans.
