It's in a stable lower orbit now, sort of weaving around the earth. They need to put it in a geosynchronous orbit at very a specific spot. They could boost it at almost any time and get it into a geosynchronous orbit, but it would end up "fixed" at the wrong spot. So, they wait until everything lines up right.

NASA searched for it after it initially quit, then gave up listening for it after a few months of silence. The guy who found it was looking for a spy satellite, but found the mystery signal instead. And now NASA is trying to dig up the old manuals for that satellite.

Yes, I got that. I just didn't realize the planned point of doing the boost and positioning was at an altitude where it was already in a functional orbit.

In the other case, good on the guy who figured out what he/she was hearing.

    Granny need only understand that
cosomology pays better than astronomy but the jobs are harder to find.

    Milky Way & Anti-matter...

Milky Way teeming with black holes
Fri, Apr 06, 2018 - The center of our galaxy is teeming with black holes, sort of like a Times Square for strange super gravity objects, astronomers have discovered.

Fri, Apr 06, 2018 - When the universe arose about 13.7 billion years ago, the Big Bang generated matter and anti-matter particles in mirroring pairs. So the reigning physics theory goes.

From the link "An illustration provided by Columbia University shows the supermassive black hole"

That's a new one on me? But of course everything has to be bigger, further, older, you-name-it because it's all part of the hype; but I don't how they're gonna report all this galaxial good news if they ever run out of superlatives. [IMG]

Hello, what have I found here then . . .

If it bores you so, why are you reading about it and regurgitating it here? Maybe you actually are interested in it, which means you should make an effort to learn what it means, instead of pointing and cackling.
