While I (in contrast to my wife) am in favor of a shot to end the paralysis of our planet, I wonder how convenient the timing must have been for all those who stand not only behind coal, gas and oil, but who were afraid of the growing voices against not only those, but also the more and more unsustainable situation of our planet as such.
It appears, Covid changed all of that. All the bad spirits and all of the inconvenient questions are gone, so it appears .....
While I don't question the seriousness of Covid, I must point out that the mortality rate is somewhere between 1 and 4%, depending on the location, like with any other flu.
So what is going on, am I wrong?
    Cheers Cats

As a third wave of covid is expected in Europe (and presumably a fourth and fifth and a....) Barnaby Choice is up in arms to strengthen our coal:

Can no one see a correlation here or is it just me?

Cats sorry old mate but you are wrong.. The mortality rate for Covid is actually Very dependent on the ability of the health care system to sustain the patients. We have seen that in the USA and the UK where as the cases rise so does the death rate.

What’s not yet known since a proportion of people have developed “long Covid” Is the morbidity of this disease

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(21)00085-0/fulltext

Even more concerning is the readmission rate - which we are still researching but it varies from 10-27%

This is a massive strain on our healthcare system

    The numbers always differ.

Depending where you look at, mortality rate is around 2%, as with every other flue.:

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

But you might agree, that one day the world needs to come back to normal, don't you think?
Covid won't disappear, the virus changes and alters all the time, but it won't go away.

Yes, the numbers do differ. It depends on what you choose to believe and not believe. I'm sure I can find evidence that the world is flat but I wouldn't believe it.

I think the point is missed on this post. Possibly the most short and to the very point post I have seen on the subject.

There are so many questions that need to be answered with this virus, the new variants of higher infectious rate and the effectiveness of vaccines. The long term effects of the vaccines among many.'

I would also suggest that life will no longer be normal as it was. It will be more new normal after covid,

Third wave prognosed in Europe !!!
So we have to ask ourselves, do we wan't to continue the hype about covid until the end of time?
Viruses are around since the beginning of time, my link shows that the mortality rate of covid 19 is around 2%, and because of that comparable with any other flue.
Coal is a real dirty business, co/responsible for the fukked up climate (and the fast change of it) we are having, responsible for many lung diseases, and what do the right wingers do? They are shouting: More coal, more more more.....
    Isn't that the truth, Garry?

Nope, that is your idealism not reality. Thusly it is your fabrication of cherry picked data while ignoring the truth.

Perhaps read BB’s post again and get out your dictionary. We know you believe you have a greater grasp on the English language but it is clear with every response you have made that you clearly do not understand what was stated.

Also, every time you have post anything about Covid-19, we are exposed to the lack of understanding of the problem of this virus.

AS STATED, the point flew high overhead.

To even try and discuss anything with you is wasting time, and unfortunately nothing new.
You get the same criticism from others, and guess what? It is not a coincidence.
