The WHO needs to start over in investigating the origins of the coronavirus

MORE THAN a year after the coronavirus pandemic began, its origins are mysterious. The truth may take years to discover, but now is a good time to relaunch the search for it. A joint inquiry by the World Health Organization and China has run into trouble, as a group of 26 scientists pointed out this week in an open letter to the WHO. Both the possibility of a zoonotic spillover from animal hosts and that of a laboratory accident need independent, expert investigation — and it is time for a new team to seriously tackle the laboratory hypothesis.

Why is the issue of the
virus origins so important? Because the source and method by which the virus made the leap to people are critical to prepare for any future pandemic. Too much political heat has already been spent on this issue, some generated by China, where the first major outbreak began, and some by Donald Trump in his attempt to distract attention from his catastrophic pandemic response as president. The blame-throwing must not impede finding the truth. . . .

as to covid origins, remember the Spanish Flu reached its peak 10 years after the Tunguska meteor hit our planet... same about the Italian Flu has been registered 7 years after Chelyabinsk meteor arrival, but for some reason they now call it a 'covid'.

I feel we are being over cautious in the UK now with everyone over 55 vaccinated and everything still locked down. What are your hospitalisations and death rates in your open for business nation now you have the most at risk groups vaccinated?

This is a weird argument for me. If we are to remain locked down in case it mutates then we will be locked down just so long as its prevalent anywhere in the world. More, we fully expect it to mutate and the vaccine to be modified regularly.
The current argument seems to be that is we unlock now then the virus will suddenly start killing younger people or mutate in a way that it didn't do before we had a vaccine.
To date I have followed the rules religiously, but based on logic. I no longer see that logic.

True, but the potential if it works in human trials is immense.

True but after the Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin disasters I will adopt “wait and see”

They were only disasters because the conspiracy fan base took hold of and ran with information from their usual 'go to' sources. In contrast the report in question comes from a reputable, fact based scientific/medical journal that makes no claims beyond the initial, potentially positive results.

In other words we wait and see.

    We wait and see

Great if it does work but there is a long hard road between the lab and common use

Sure, but there remains an accountability question.
