I went outside in my P100 respirator (see above picture) to BBQ when wildfire smoke was almost choking. Smell the smoke? Not at all. That's what a real mask does for you.
Right. Wear the above respirator along with eye protection and you have good protection from getting covid.

Are you close to some fires? It’s been hazy here for a couple weeks. A combination of fires and your BBQ no doubt!

Canadians are a similar beast. Example: the Conservatives (1984-1993) went from a majority of 169 seats to 2 (yes, two) in the next election. Fire ants at a picnic are about as popular.

I'm in Vancouver, BC in Canada and we picked up smoke from fires in the BC interior.

Ok thanks. They say we are getting smoke from the northern Rockies (I guess north of your area), California, Oregon, and Colorado depending on wind patterns.

    Your source, bitchute.com:

"BitChute is a video hosting service launched by Ray Vahey in January 2017. It is known for accommodating far-rightindividuals and conspiracy theorists, and for hosting hate speech. Some creators who have been banned from Youtube have migrated to BitChute; some others maintain a presence on both platforms and use BitChute primarily for extreme content not allowed on YouTube."

    You're spreading propaganda.

I seriously doubt that since officials at all levels have for months been begging people to get vaccinated and/or searching out the unvaccinated.

That may be, but children under 12 don't have access to covid vaccines.

No, it isn't, because doctors are not yet allowed to prescribe Covid-19 vaccines to children under 12.

I think the FDA and the CDC should move faster on this. We already had 490 Covid-19 deaths in children under 18 (I don't know exactly how many of these were under 12) and it's not just the death toll; there's the MIS-C problem too, which can lead to sequelae and even long Covid.

Think of how devastating the death of a child is to a family. Even though the number of dead children is much smaller than the total number of US deaths, it's still very devastating and even more so when we consider that these are for the most part avoidable deaths.

I just read today a pediatrician saying that if we had a new disease that killed 300 children, we'd be pulling all stops to protect them, so he doesn't understand the delay in doing something for these children.

Consider yourself lucky - in France (population 65 million) we've had 13 under the age of 18.

But, the analysis that reported this number also insisted on the fact that Covid was the killer but the children had other serious health complications.

If so, it is reasonable to believe that healthy kids do not contact the illness uniquely as do grownups ....

Lucky? I said 490. That's much worse than your 13, because our population is 5 times yours, so with this rate you had, if you were our size you'd have had 65. How are we lucky if we had 490 instead of 65? I suspect some typo when you typed 13.

Well, yes, in most Covid-19 fatal cases, not all, there are co-morbidities that aggravate the course of the illness, but that's no consolation for the families of the dead children.

Healthy kids can catch the virus just as numerous as adults, but it is true that they tend to have milder illness.

So what? I'll leave that to the doctors.

It is doctors who staff the bodies who make those decisions.

Well, in that regard, yes, but not exactly doctors in the sense of medical doctors who practice medicine. Most advisory panel members are PhD scientists and the such. A few are practicing medical doctors.

What makes you think that PhD virologists, pharmacologists, immunologists, and epidemiologists are medical doctors?

Some are, and some are MD's. It is nonetheless a medical decision.

You do seem confused about what a medical doctor is and how we're educated.

I'm one of the rare cases of being an MD/PhD but the overwhelming majority of MDs and DOs in this country are not PhD scientists.
These panels are much more scientific than clinical. They appropriately invite the expertise of scientists that understand viruses, immune cascades, pharmacological molecules and adjuvants, and the biostatistics-laden field of epidemiology rather than that of the family doctor who treats hypertension and diabetes in a small private office.

I don't understand why you're nitpicking on this.

The decision-making process at the FDA and the CDC is much more heavily done from the scientific standpoint than from the standpoint of everyday medical practice. That's what I was saying. I said that medical doctors cannot prescribe these vaccines for children yet, because the vastly scientific panels at the FDA and the CDC have not approved them yet, which many practicing pediatricians lament.

You are trying to invalidate my valid point by insisting that the few panelists who are also medical doctors make of this a medical decision (despite the fact that these committees operate by simple majority and practicing medical doctors are not in the majority, there). Most of those in the committee who actually are medical doctors, are no longer practicing clinical medicine anyway; they are administrators or like me, have both trainings.
