    During a Covid surge

    1. LESS contact tracing, and LIMITED
    Covid testing equates to LESS confirmed cases

    Example; U.S.

    2. MORE contact tracing, and UNLIMITED Covid testing equates to MORE confirmed cases

    Example; South Korea

    Based on the number of confirmed Omicron cases, do you now understand why Nation 1 and 2 are incomparable?

    to be fair, it was less about us shutting down our own economy, but what happening overseas... as overseas is where we get most of our supply

    when Trump shut down our economy and threatened to ban other countries from our ports, other countries got scared that we would ban them

    In this thread, I’ve never mentioned a word about how well SK has/is handling things, I just stated the following indisputable fact;

    During a Covid surge

    1. LESS contact tracing, and LIMITED Covid testing equates to LESS confirmed cases

    Example; U.S.

    2. MORE contact tracing, and UNLIMITED Covid testing equates to MORE confirmed cases

    Example; South Korea

    ONCE AGAIN, in many countries, Omicron ended up overwhelming contact tracing, Covid testing, and laboratories, and for said reasons, government officials had to limit testing to the most vulnerable.

    Whereas in SK, and prior/during their Omicron surge, government officials have increased contact tracing, and they kept offering unlimited Covid testing.

    Last, I’m not misinforming, I’m educating.

    Oh, and "currently" isn't overall. I recall people trying to commend Florida for it's handling of Covid when cases were low, conveniently forgetting that infection rates and deaths rates were among the highest OVERALL. A snapshot in time is extremely misleading and dishonest.

    PRIOR government shutting down non-essential businesses;

    1. The first business/industry Trump partially halted/shut down were international flights from China, and then from Europe, and then from other Covid infected countries. Results; Tens of Thousands of airline workers were laid off.

    AND then, fear of travelling/getting infected with Covid greatly impacted our airline industry.

    2. The second industry that predominantly and VOLUNTARILY locked their doors was our sports/entertainment industry.

    I also recall Republicans commending DeSantis for his below national average Covid infection, hospitalization, and death rates.

    And then, mainly due to the Delta Variant, blamed Biden for Florida’s above national average Covid infection, Hospitalization, and death rates.

    Hypocrisy???????

    Obama did basically nothing to combat those viruses. H1N1 infected 60 million people. Thank goodness it was not lethal.

    Those were naturally occurring viruses not a bio engineered bio weapon.

    Obama called them by their geographic names(West Nile and Ebola) which is totally racist according to democrats.

    Fact; Due to Covid, every central, state, and local government in the world have PARTIALLY shutdown their economy, and mainly non-essential businesses.

    Fact; Many shutdowns, both domestic and foreign were voluntary/self-imposed, mainly sports and entertainment industry.

    Fact; Whether self-imposed or mandated, grounding airplanes/banning flights to/from Covid infected countries is a partial shutdown.

    QUESTION; Were the partial shutdowns effective or ineffective at preventing/minimizing the spread of Covid19?

    The Obama team taught the Trump pandemic team. Worked them through a couple simulations to give them a feel for it. And left them with the manual they had made.

    And after the team leader announced there was a pandemic, which was her job, Trump moved her to a different department, disbanded the team, and spent months downplaying the threat in a futile attempt to keep business from falling off at his hotels.

    Trump had 14 people sick with Covid brought back without quarantine procedures. The CDC was overruled when it objected. One of the early breakouts was in the Pac NW, where they landed.

    Trump killed some number of hundreds of thousands. South Korea got hit at the same time, they are a bit closer to China, and our mortality rate was 79 times greater theirs.

    That's the difference between competence and depraved indifference..

    For your info, UK was the first country to have temporarily banned flights from South Africa, and 5 neighboring countries.

    Question; What good said travel bans have done?

    Answer; Back then, and in this forum, I pointed the fact that since the beginning of South Africa’s Omicron surge, and prior to said UK’s ban flights;

    a. Near 10,000 passengers have already flew from SA to UK

    AND,

    b. Over 100,000 passengers have already flew from SA to other countries.

    Question; Were UK’s flight bans from SA and 5 neighboring countries EFFECTIVE?
