We had the shark cull in WA because people kept tempting sharks in their own territory, now because a few people think they should be free to do whatever they want, we must kill crocodiles for eating some stupid people who want to continue to tempt them for no good reason.

However, at least one politician makes some sense in all this.

I just wonder when people are actually going to start owning their own stupidity??? Once again if your going to go into an area where a very dangerous animal or activity is occurring then you have to expect to get hurt or possibly dead. If you are not going to accept the responsibility for your own actions then the rest of Australia should not be held to the stupid actions of the few...

We have dominion over the animals so let's cull and use their skin for purses and shoes I say, especially crocodiles. Meats good eating too. Hell, they've survived meteorites, floods, fires, droughts and would probably survive the apocalypse! It's not as though they are in danger of extinction. Around populations they must be moved or culled.

The young guy was a local and despite rather than grabbing the young backpacker in the crutch as a greeting and pick up method, like the yanks apparently do, he decided he'd show her how brave and fearless he was. Trump takes the former option and doesn't get his arm chewed off and ALSO becomes president of the world's most powerful nation. Okay, the young guy should have known better but maybe there weren't that many crocs in the area in the time he grew up to be overly concerned. It would have been a sobering experience in more ways than one for the young lad!

Managed hunting seasons have worked pretty well in Texas and Louisiana. The alligators thrive, hunters make money, and we get alligator wallets, boots, and purses. They fry up pretty good, too! It's a win win for all.

I am not sure about "Hunting Seasons", too many fools would get eaten and cost us money. These ain't gators, they are "Salties", make a gator look like a snapping turtle. Professional shooters however doing a controlled cull I would be in favour of.

I had a croc burger 3 weekends ago, yes they taste good, plenty of spice, I like my croc with bite. Oh and you can buy croc and roo in most supermarkets around Australia

I have zero sympathy with shark culls. Sharks have the fishing industry to deal with and rarely attack people in close to shore.

I have a bit more time for a limited & properly implemented croc cull around populated areas. The fact that crocs can kill people who are not in the water and pose a threat in much more easily accessible areas makes them different to sharks. They are also doing quite well thank you very much in the numbers stakes. I would employ professional shooters, tightly limit the areas where the culling was done and make sure people knew where that was. Declaring 'open season' and letting the yahoos have at it is asking for trouble. I've seen enough of how that goes with duck shooting not to want a repeat on other species.

None of this will save morons from themselves or tourists from an inability to understand the danger posed by crocs.

As keen fisherman I can categorically say that crocs have become more obvious in the last decade. Only last week I had a four meter beast pop up beside the boat in Hinchinbrook. I know the Johnstone River pretty well, and any fool that jumps in there deserves what they get.

The fact that crocs are now more emboldened to approach civilisation has become a problem. They are very cunning and have not lasted as long as they have by making mistakes. I am not usually in favour of changing nature to suit humans, but in this instance a cull may be necessary. They seem to be running out of territory, not their fault, just the way it has become.

We stopped wild shooting because they nearly became extinct but maybe it is time to thin the herd so to speak

A bask of crocodiles. A congregation of alligators. Sounds like a good time for a burger cook off.

    You forget

    Not a lot of guns

Plus most areas they thrive in are hard to access without a well trained mountain goat or a camel. Even horses would have a tough time.

And the LAST thing we want is a load of Boguns with fewer brain cells than bullets charging around the bush

Look at what this idiot did

Yes, I know he looks for the obscure and popular fights that makes lots of noise, bit like a Chihuahua on the other side of the screen door, he is a bloody Great Dane until you open the door...
