North Korea is an option also. One of those cults has killed many more than all religions put together.
Political Science by Randy Newman No one likes us, I don't know why We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try And all around, even our old friends put us down Let's drop the big one, see what happens [...] We'll save Australia Don't wanna hurt no kangaroos We'll build an all-American amusement park there They got surfing too! Not true. Taxing churches like any other business would not necessesarily mean that you have to ban cash. Apples and oranges.
no different than supporters of the left, or are you also saying that we should help them escape from the 'leftism' that was 'washed' upon them by educators & media...
As it says in Acts 6:9 (TLB) = But one day some of the men from the Jewish cult of “The Freedmen” started an argument with him, and they were soon joined by Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria in Egypt, and the Turkish provinces of Cilicia, and Asia Minor.
You're not allowed to pick and choose which religions get to be free and which ones don't. Banning MLM's, on the other hand, I could totally get behind.
It is VERY complicated, because there's no clear demarcation between a religion and a cult. And allowing the state to choose is essentially making the state the arbiter of religious truth, something forbidden by the 1st Amendment.
No laws should be made based on your unhappy childhood. I had a miserable childhood, too, but religion was an escape from it, God was the one person who loved me and accepted me just as I was. I have grown past that now, but I would not take religion away from any child, especially those who have a miserable life in the here and now. By the way, burning in the fires of hell if you don't obey your parents is decidedly unscriptural. Only faith is required to be saved, not works.
It is immoral, unethical, and cruel to terrorize children with tales of burning in fire for eternity. And I wasn't talking about my parents. I was talking Catholic school and church. And the Catholics aren't nearly as bad as the fundamentalist religions popular in the South - the same places scumbag trump is popular. OH THE IRONY!!!! But trump is certainly a byproduct of crackpot religions like those popular in the South. Reminds me of the soon-to-be cop whose avatar was a photo of a gun and bible. A GUN and a BIBLE!!!! That's religion for you.
By age 13, Catholic children are expected to accept their religion "as an adult". It is called Confirmation and is one of the sacraments. Riiiiiiiight, because we can make informed choices about something as complex as religion at age 12 or 13. It is just a part of the brainwashing to hook em while they're too young to think for themselves. And if you commit a mortal sin, like not attending Church on Sunday, or thinking about girls while masturbating, you can go to hell - unless you truly feel sorry for your sin - you know, the famous Catholic Guilt.. It took me 40 years to reject the brainwashing over sex. And that only happened when I was holding a gun to my head and trying to pull the trigger.
I have seen boys and young men posting on religious forums about their struggle to avoid "impure thoughts". I recall two kids in particular who were agonizing over this, much like I did. They are trying to deny nature and it doesn't work. So they are ridden with guilt. They fear burning in hell because they can't stop thinking about girls. That is just cruel. And it can do lasting emotional damage.
I would never advocate banning any religions for purely practical terms. I acknowledge that just won't and cannot happen. In principle though, I do feel certain religions should be banned. Good intentions are simply not enough. In an ideal world though, I would not ban religion in the sense of policing people's brains which means people can pray in public and believe what they want. I would just ban the institutions of religion. Why? Because when people claim authority based on unproven spiritual claims, they tend to abuse that authority and threaten people. Managing political authority is difficult enough. We shouldn't have to deal with religious authority.
