Curious...do homophobes think they're going to "bring it all back"?

The same can be said of many things.

Would you support my right to marry my sister? Or have a wild west shootout with a consenting adult?

Hell, let's take it a step further. Let's gets rid of the age of consent -- after all, if a 15yr old and a 40yr old are both sexually developed, then there is no reason why they can't have a child together.

How sexually repressive the archaic age of consent laws are, huh? Pedophiles can't choose whom they're attracted to. And if the kid's parents consent, then why not?

Leftist progress: incest, wild west shootouts and sex with minors.

I wasn't aware progress and regress were synonyms. . .

Procreation has nothing to do with who can marry

Still, we're talking about 'this'... not everything else.

    See the above.

You guys jump from 'slippery-slope' to 'greasy-slide'. :(

Start your own thread(s) if it all really matters that much to you.

Your logic is tortured to say the least. You speak a lot about the "government interests", but you know as someone who supposedly has a background in law that the courts don't making rulings that affirm people's Constitutional rights based simply on governmental interest. Same-sex marriage (or simply marriage quite frankly) doesn't need one if it concerns one of the "fundamental rights of man", and a "civil right". As a class, homosexual couples aren't receiving equal protection, and using procreation as a reason to deny them parity in marriage further incriminates your position given that all sorts of "classes" are entitled to their marriages as a fundamental right - death row/life inmates, the medically infertile, the post-menopausal, the elderly. No equal protection, just open 'over-inclusion' according to your arguments.

There is little else than can be said about the topic at hand because we keep having the same discussions over and over and over. Nothing new is being discussed, and no one is changing their minds or positions. Which makes me wonder why you as a "lone wolf" even bother to devote so much of your time here, hence questioning your motives.

Yep. I also see what you mean.

I'm essentially done listening to and trying to seriously consider the reasoning/logic of those who are simply anti-gay. They pretend to be logical, but their homophobia pokes holes in virtually any conclusions they come to.

I care that OUR constitution be followed. What explains your obsession as a Brit, with US law?

As usual, you are confused. The governmental interest is essential in Equal Protection law when those rights are extended to some, but not others.

The only thing I'm "obsessed with" is rights, and (bar the Constitutional aspect) the arguments for and against marriage equality are the same. The majority of topics on this forum also happen to centre around US law, which is covered in UK media.

From my perspective, you have an unhealthy obsession with making your case against the rights of your fellow citizens. Not sure people are buying your "but, but.. I'm only defending the Constitution!!!" bullcrap.

Watching Bill O'Reilly is a guilty pleasure of mine..so when I need a laugh....

....anywho...I can't view your vid, so I can't know if it's what I saw...but I watched Beck the other night looking like a lost puppy dog on O'Reilly, explaining all this about how he was wrong about this and that....including warrantless wiretaps, the Patriot Act, and sounding all "reformed Libertarian"

It appears as though he'll shift back to the pre-Fox HLN persona of a pseudo Libertarian.

They guy is a bi-polar with a messianic complex, and of course, the accompanying delusions of grandure

When it extends over a thousand rights to those who are in the same boat as same-sex couples in terms of procreation, "equal protection" isn't being afforded.

Sorry. I'm NOT going everywhere that everyone wants to go with this topic.

I'm tired of homophobes and their 'ways'.

I've put that particular interlocutor on 'ignore' (yet again), because I can't stand the nonsense anymore. I'll take that person off of ignore later, just to see where he/she is taking their argument next.

Okay. Now, get over it or answer the questions 'yourself'. I'm not playing your games here.

Just say what you mean to say.

The only time it'll be worth taking him off ignore will be to hear him whine when the Supreme Court knocks down DOMA and allows SSM to resume in California.

But youve never advocated for marriage equality. You want the inequality to continue, wih an exception for the homosexuals.

Beck does nothing...if it's not good for himself.

Clearly he wants a future audience...and sticking with the Social Cons on opposing gay rights is in direct opposition to that. Younger people support gay rights (mostly) and older ones don't. Glenn merely positioning himself as a "Ron Paul/Rand Paul" guy.

But it shows something else....he has no FEAR of the Social Cons, who he's obviously throwing to the curb.

Two different reasons on those guys-

    1. O'Reilly like Beck wants "libertarian" bona fides. And like Beck sees no upside to siding with the Social Cons....no downside to opposing them.

    2. Rush...simply has no credibility on "traditional marriage", and wants the subject dropped so that he isn't forced to comment on it to his audience. who JUST MIGHT think to themselves "Wait a minute...this guy has been divorced THREE times, married FOUR times....and he's talking about 'defending traditional marriage?!?!?!?" :)

I don't have to advocate for incestuous/related marriage in the Gay & Lesbian forum. Sorry, not going to dance to your tune, as irresistible as this topic is for you.
