A hedge of rugosa roses and cactus would probably work just as well, and be less expensive.

I think this is a deal that would please no one. The open borders crowd does NOT want this wall. The anti-immigration types certainly do not want to reward crime with DACA. Best just to have the army corps of engineers get to it.

I voted yes, because it might be the only way we will get the wall. However, I really think they are two separate issues.

DACA will not Make America Great Again.

DACA is amnesty # 8, to be the last amnesty never to be repeated again. :roflol:Gringos are so stupid and fell for that lie seven times.

I think the vast majority of citizens are unfamiliar with greencards, and therefore unfamiliar with that option... which is legalized permanent residency...

I agree that they are two separate issues.... and one should not be a pay off for the other

Personally I suspect that building “the wall” will have little impact on the frequency of rape and murder, or smuggling of drugs. Otoh, If the objective is to keep illegal workers out of the country, IMO there are more effective strategies

I agree with DACA. But I think that national E-Verify would turn off the jobs magnet and thereby do more than a wall to prevent more illegal entry by preventing the very desire to do so. Otherwise, they'll just pile up at the wall, looking for and eventually finding a way thru. Without jobs due to E-Verify, the remainder in the country illegally will leave on their own. Next, punish/end those damned sanctuary cities. Lastly build a wall, preferably a tall, see-thru fence, made of steel bars, to discourage drug runners, gangs, and terrorists. But if I had to pick only two, it would be DACA and E-Verify.

Yes we need to protect the nation from those illegal 7-11 clerks and such low lives.

Sorry there is a demand for such labor that is not being allow to be met legally and the bigots Trump had encourage to crawl out of their holes is not helping any nor will a worthless wall.

What about agriculture harvesters and E-Verify?

Undocumented workers hold jobs far beyond cleaning toilets and 7-11 clerks
On three occasions my wife had an indocumented supervisor

One of those flew in her mom for free cancer treatment via medicaid

Amazing given how hard it is for anyone to qualify
    for medicaid.

This is about illegal aliens, not about farm workers who have work visas and are legal.

    WRONG

Most have no papers and when enforced in the Southeast, crops rotted.

You can't be serious. American jobs are for American citizens. And btw, any unemployed American, of which there are millions, would jump at the chance to sit on his butt in a climate controlled environment for minimum or above minimum wage and fringe benefits, to pay rent and put food on the table. As jobs go, they may be crumbs and scratchings in your estimation, but they are Americans crumbs and scratchings, not anyone elses. So in other words, brood your eggs in your own nest, and graze your cattle on your own land, comprende? There is an order to things. And that order is Americas decision to make, to suit ourselves. Our first loyalty is to what's right, not to what some stranger wants.

I have no knowledge of that. But if true, then the farmers miscalculated and I'll bet that they don't make that mistake again. Such is life. Oh and btw, a lot of our produce is harvested and imported from elsewhere.

Somewhere in the range of only 20 percents of the foreign farm workers are legal due to the long long waits and the cost of the legal programs.

LOL yes our immigration programs due to the cost and waits are forcing American farmers out of business in favor of foreign farmers.

Or, how about Ocotillo? That is probably the best kind of plant barrier we could have, but, the illegals would just go in with machetes and chop them down.

[IMG]. Ocotillo -- just like tangling with razor blades on long stalks! :skull:

    Right.

My Blueberries are a "Product of Mexico".
    So are my Blackberries

    It is true.
Remember, Obama was the Deporter in Chief. Surpassed any president.
    Even Trump/monthly .
Black people, specifically Black Nationalist, have a bias against Latinos, as Obama demonstrated.
You don't really want a list, do you?

:flagus: has no visa program for seasonal, migratory, agricultural workers.
Lucky for YOU, the Greatest State of California,
Fruit, Nut, Vegetable Basket of :flagus: - - is a Sanctuary State. :roflol:
California's Wealthy Agri Business Profiteers are more secure than those in Georgia.

The Greatest State of California has a glorious history when it comes to "farm workers".
Go read Grapes of Wrath or Tortilla Flats. More on the profiteers side, East of Eden.
Brown's behavior of granting water to fracking while orchards died was disturbing.
It takes how many years to make an orchard compared to start the fracking again later?
Brown's behavior on this was hardly the usual California Loves Its' Farmers policies.
Remember. Farmers are rarely people. More likely part of some "mega inc.".

When Colbert was funny, The Colbert Report, he did a stint in the fields and ended up testifying before Congress most passionately.

I can't find the segment about the most defenseless having no voice.

Match, McFarland, USA. A good and true movie and I don't like Kevin Costner.
Working the fields is hard work. Work that if examined by OSHA would be rationed, like a ten minute break for every 50 minutes worked or something like that. Bent over, hot sun, etc.

    Don't get me started

OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Administration or somethin'

    Yes. My feelings exactly
I suspect that there is a shared knowledge base of people who are familiar with the system and know how to game the system

so, there is NO chance the Democrats will give Trump his big immigration plan.

it includes DACA and the wall, but a whole bunch of other changes Dems dont want.

Trump is an idiot, as he could have had the wall.

    and now he will fail
