The problem with government running anything is that it produces an inferior product/service while costing significantly more. We can pay for such things privately or we can pay for it through government taxation, but if we choose the latter, it won't be as good and it will cost a LOT more.

They probably would be able to do much more if the systems were not bankrupted, corrupted and destroyed by the two prior generations.

Why do you believe that one citizen is financially responsible for another citizen?

Housing prices fully recovered by 2016. You must be living in a ****hole place if your house hasn't recovered yet.

My name is Eric. It's actually in my username, Steve.

    I'm a bit surprised you couldn't add 2+2.

I believe that we live in the greatest nation on Earth. The richest nation on Earth. A nation that can afford to send each of it's citizens to the training of their choice, be it plumbing, architecture, nursing, graphic design, marketing, law, or underwater basket weaving.

We can afford to spend TRILLIONS on endless ME wars, but you scoff at spending a fraction of that to educate the American populace.

That view no longer fits in a 21st century world. We can afford to send every High School graduate to college. You just don't want us to. You'd rather those dollars were spent on more tanks, more bombs, more aircraft carriers. Not once have I ever heard a Republican say we spend too much on warfararing, and not enough on our citizens. That is going to change in the coming years. And you are either for it, as I am, or against it, as is the entire Republican party.

Who will win this battle? My bet is on the under 30 crowd. They have seen the US at war for their entire lives, and they are sick of it. You will scoff at AOC supporters. You will cheer as Trump insults Greta Thunberg. You will applaud as Trump's Southern wall grows in cost beyond whatever Mexico was supposed to pay for.

In the end, you will be dead. And Progress will prevail.

I am not a Liberal. I am a Progressive, and I see just how great a nation we still have the ability to become when we stop warring, and start making life better for each of our citizens.

That starts with free healthcare and free college tuition. It's complete BS to say we can't afford those two things. We went to the ****in' moon. Any nation that can do that can also educate it's citizens and keep them healthy.

Nice non-answer there, chief. Do you have your own private police force and fire department?

Trump had repeatedly criticized the amount of money that we've spent on middle-east wars, although I can't say that he's actually done anything about it. He removed some troops in Syria from some Kurdish areas and the neocons and the political left went apocalyptic. Remember?

But you do benefit from those that have a higher education as they generally make higher salaries and pay higher taxes which will benefit you as you age out of the system and the government will have more money to spend on you once you become an unproductive member of society and start suckling at the teat of Social Security. Republicans just don't seem to understand how this system works. You included.

No, I don't benefit from someone else's college degree. They benefit from their degree.

If you take out a loan, you pay it back ... whether it's for college, a car, a house, or a vacation. That is "fair".

What I remember is how many times we screwed the Kurds when they had our backs for the last twenty years. There were twenty different places in the ME that Trump could have stood down from. Abandoning our Kurdish allies wasn't one of them and was a tremendously stupid move.

Yes, you do benefit from an educated society. We all do. If you can't see the reality of that, you are being purposely blind.

Some will find any excuse possible to justify someone else paying for something for them. Had the same issue with local high schoolers making excuses as to why our school taxes should be used to buy each one of them a laptop.

So you will then be voting for Bernie, right?

How come Bernie doesn't have the testicular fortitude to run under his own party and has to try and hijack the crooked DNC? Will he bow out again after they rig it against him, steal his money and throw him out on his butt?

Bernie is an old, tired mess of Marxist. He should just quietly go away and retire to his Dacha just outside of Gorky Park and drink Vodka with his comrades.

Why do you believe we as taxpayers have to pay for roads, schools and the military?
The answer is likely the same.

That's fine, but both will cost FAR more and both will be inferior to what we have now. Keep in mind that we created a federal department for education and our nation's public education system is probably WORSE now than it was in 1979.

Next you're going to want that your fellow citizens be financially responsible for someone else's master's degree, doctorates, etc., right?
