Granny says, "Dat's right - where's Billy Jack when ya need him?... Governor orders evacuation of Dakota pipeline protest camp Thu Feb 16, 2017 | The governor of North Dakota ordered protesters on Wednesday to evacuate a demonstration camp near the site of the Dakota Access Pipeline in the latest move to clear the area that has served as a base for opposition to the multibillion dollar project.
Regardless of how one feels about these fake 'environmentalists', this Keystone XL extension is unnecessary and isn't going to benefit many people, despite all the noise from those who own it. That stuff has been flowing to Port Arthur for a long time already without it via the existing trunk lines, and the distance it shaves off the trip is tiny. No need to risk damaging a major western aquifer just for a few pennies in temporary savings. Current cost by rail from North Dakota to New York is about $15/bbl, via pipeline from N. Dakota to Port Arthur is around $12.50/bbl or so. That little extension isn't going to do anything to cheapen costs, for the simple reason that the owners have no reason to lower their prices to outsiders in the first place, and will just pocket a few pennies more per barrel.
Tribes lose appeal... U.S. judge rules against tribes seeking to stop Dakota pipeline Tue Mar 7, 2017 | A U.S. judge on Tuesday ruled against Native American tribes seeking to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline as their legal options narrow weeks before oil is set to flow on the project.
"The tribes had argued that the pipeline would render water they use for religious ceremonies spiritually impure even if the pipeline goes under Lake Oahe. They said the pipeline was reminiscent of an ancient prophesy of a Black Snake that would harm natives and that they could not use other water supplies in the region because they had been polluted by decades of mining." Seems Native Americans are using their religion to either re-claim land or make it impossible to do anything on that land. This could be a violation of the Separation Clause.
There are plenty of alternate pipeline routes if needed. I would have thought today that such pipelines being built would be enclosed within an outer casing to capture any spills or leaks in areas that are close to natural and freshwater reserves.
I ride the rails between Albany and Buffalo regularly. I don't want that ****, heavy as it is, in my path. Who are you to put me in jeopardy? Seriously. I mean seriously. Explain it to me. Really. Why? It's personal. My kids want to know. Cheers
If I was in charge of the pipeline, I would design the pipe with an outer casing to ensure if there was a leak or spill that I would capture the oil. That way there can be no waste of the oil resource and no environmental damage to national parks or water reserves. It would cost more, but I would save on the loss of oil and the environmental fines if there was a leak or spill.
Tomorrow I travel from Rutland Vt to Syracuse. Amtrak. I'll meet an oil train passing at a closing speed of 120mph, twice, maybe thrice. Big black tank cars, hauling ass. Hauling ass for you. Prey for me. Cheers
But we all know that Trump administration gives a crap on environmental problems if this will hurt business and profit...
It depends on the way you look at it. An area where President Trump and the republican administration can work on is waste management. So to landfill waste is really quite wasteful: 1. The land is destroyed. 2. There is no resource recovery. 3. Underground water aquifers can get contaminated. Looking over the long term we need a solution to waste, ultimately we can't live on our own piles of rubbish.
Today is a day off. My good friend is asking me to stay. Dawn. Begging actually. I fly mostly, my own Cessna 210. Tomorrow I'll take Amtrak. Perhaps you want to ride along? Cheers
I hope you provide and stick to your precise flight path and routes before you take off. They might scramble fighter jets and shoot you down if you deviate from your provided flight schedule or come too close to a major city or town. Enjoy your flying in the regional/country/outback areas.
It's not foolish at least ... maybe this issue here can be done with a pipeline or not, but in general we all know that any environmental issue is no final point to make decision for Trump and Republicans, because profit counts only!
My point being. Amtrak is a greater risk. Seriously, over the years Amtrak west, traveling west, then east home, isn't reliable. 25% of the time I'm cab'd home. North South, perfect. Cheers
I am more of a traditional and pure economist. I believe in the absolute efficient production, distribution, consumption and disposal of resources.
You aren't allowed to fly your little bug smashers around cities or towns. If you come close to populated civilian areas, you will be shot down.
The last book I read was the travels of Marco Polo. Quite interesting his adventures through the Middle East. Would you like me to provide you with the most interesting part of the book that I found? Apart from that, I usually read a book every 2 or 3 weeks on average. Sometimes I will smash through 3 books in a week.
