Dear Atheist: If you dont believe that God exists, why do you care if I pray to him. Why are you so up tight about someone you dont believe in. It just dont make sense. Care to explain????????
What are you even talking bout? Pray all you want. Aside from spewing nonsense on this forum it's probably all you have to do...
You can pray to your god all you want. Don’t ask for the government to give your beliefs special recognition.
I personally don’t care whether you pray or not but I can’t help wondering why you’re so uptight about people who (you think) don’t like you praying? Maybe you and they actually have very similar reasoning?
If that was an accurate representation of reality, why would you need a cartoon to show it? Or did you realise a back-and-forth of actual photographs showing hypocritical protesters wouldn’t be one sided?
What on earth are you talking about. I defend your right to pray and believe what you want. But on your dime and your time. Why do believe government should sanction and respect it?
Because the 1st Amendment to the Constitution guarantees it in the first sentence. It is apparent the founding fathers thot it was so important, it was stated first in the bill of rights. Argue with that.
No oppression involved at all. Not getting special recognition and being treated like everyone else isn’t oppression.
Atheist here. I'm perfectly fine if you pray to him, or her, or it. I even attend church with my fiancé sometimes even though I'm a non believer.
Because schools are a government function and the government shouldn’t be giving special recognition to religion.
I'll Logical, I will add a comment. I'm an atheist in a way. I believe in a higher power, but not a god. I believe Mother Nature makes the rules of life and living- and I follow them with great success. Of course, you can't pray to Mother Nature for favors, and nature has no interest in my personal success or survival either way- but does tell me how to make the most of my life. And, I have to admit that there are times when I have gone to places where nature was in it's purest state, to allow me to watch, learn without the contamination and damage that humans scatters everywhere they go- sort of a meditation, I guess. So generally, I don't have any conflict with people seeing their higher power as different than mine. It's a personal thing, with one exception. Historically, we have seen religions abuse the power that it provides to those leading them, in everything from wars to con jobs to controlling the way people think to dictating who they will hate or kill. It's potentially dangerous stuff. This is not to discount the good side of religions at all, or your right to follow your own belief. However when religion becomes righteous justification for evil things or takes over people's ability to think for themselves, then I see a problem. However I think all good men would see that, religious or not. Anything that holds power holds the potential for abuse as well as the power for good. I suppose some people wrongfully connect that kind of abuse with a personal belief.
I understand why you must pray. How else are you to show the rest of us heathens that you are holier than us? So, please, pray as loudly, obnoxiously and publicly as you can. Let me know of that wonderful reward you earned.
Yes, the government should not be respecting an establishment of religion, de facto or de jure. Are you claiming religious people cannot pray unless the government gives their prayer official support?
While I do attend church, I prefer to pray in private as the Bible says. My rewards has been a long very healthy life, a good job, and great retirement, a fine wife and family and great grand children. Life for me has been great.
Does the government not having an organized prayer at football games interfere with yours or anyone else’s beliefs?
