I know, I know, but three disco songs that come immediately to mind are: Stayin' Alive, Bee Gees Shake Your Groove Thing, Peaches and Herb I Love the Nightlife, Alicia Bridges (Like a lot of people, I thought it was "Disco Highway." That's neither the title nor a line of the song.) Women especially love to dance. Go to a wedding reception and see how they still hit the floor for these songs and others. You think they want to dance to rap, hip hop, jazz or metal? Well, they don't.
On the 70s station on Sirius, I listen to their weekly rerun of Kasey Kasem every Saturday AM The music from the early 70s vs late 70s obviously is a lot different The other week was 1978 when the Bee Gees & Saturday Night Fever were dominating the charts and there was a # of good disco songs on it including Night Fever & Stayin Alive 44 years later, as you mention, a # of those songs still thrive
John Travolta made his fortune on 70s disco crap. Then he converted to dark side called Scientology. He's was just that stupid I don't feel a bit sorry for him.
Funny, for a few years I listened to Rick Dees in the Morning - a Los Angeles morning radio show. His show was pretty funny but I'd never seen him before This was truly a low point in modern music!
