Well, I don't know about debate, but here are some comments: The big deal was not that a black teen was shot to death by white police officers, but that the black teen was unarmed and was still shot. True, but how many human species have been made extinct by animals? I don't know if US public schools receive the highest funding in the world, but regardless, just throwing money at the problem rarely solves anything.
Pretty much what I was going to say. From what I have seen the U.S. has the 5th highest spending per student- not the highest
I don't think DD won the contest but I would add that the US falls below some countries when you add in private expenditures, such as private after school programs. They're called cram schools in Japan and hagwons in South Korea. This doesn't really count though in my book since public schools can't begin to compete with that kind of arrangement unless we make school hours longer.
