With birth rates at all time lows and lifespan decreasing in the USA ,this poses a threat to future prosperity in the USA.Today Maine,Vermont,West Virginia and Puerto Rico have more dying than are being born, numerous other states including Pennsylvania and Florida as well as many others are narrowly positive in births over deaths. The only racial or ethnic group with a positive birth rate are Hispanics and they are also now declining.Very soon the over 65 population of our country will exceed the 18 and under population.

People need confidence that there will be jobs and prosperity enough to get children raised and educated at a decent standard of living wage.

    Jobs and wages are everything.

The government has been against families for a long time.

There is a bigger problem than that. Economies all depend on population growth. There is no sustainable zero-growth economic model in place.

The single biggest problem the world has is a growing population that is stressing limited resources. Food and water supplies, climate change, pollution and industrial waste, energy and oil, are all stressed by a growing population. Population growth eventually has to stop; either by intent or by mass starvation and disease.

So as it stands, if we are to save the world from disaster due to overpopulation, the global economy cannot survive. And even if we don't save the world from disaster, the global economy cannot survive.

In the absence of population and GDP growth tax death sets in. We have to raise taxes on the young to pay for the old, who then cant pay for their retirement and need more benefits, rinse and repeat.

Once immigrant nations develop and approach negative birth rates we really are ****ed.

And exactly WHY are they declining? I'll tell you why.....ILLEGAL FRICKIN IMMIGRATION. Illegals drive down wages and then ship their tax-free income back south of the border, which results in a double whammy on our standard of living. Rising taxes to cover the leeching and lower wages because of the competition = lower standards of living, which results in lower birth rates, i.e., can't afford to have kids.

And it PISSES ME OFF TO NO END THAT IMBECILES CAN'T FIGURE THIS OUT!! :censored::censored::chainsaw::machinegun::machinegun::machinegun::democrat::gop:

This wouldn't be a problem if we paid our bills on time. The GDP is one way of looking at the overall economic strength of the country as a whole, but the real economic strength lies in how much individuals produce. The country would have a much greater GDP if the population doubled, but that doesn't mean squat if people are making the same as before.

The country would actually be much nicer with fewer people. It's only politicians who have borrowed on our grandchildren's ability to pay for things we want today that makes this an issue. A perfect example of this is my own household. My children are gone, my wife and I are making more than ever, the house is the same size and we have much more money than before. Now if I had gone to the bank and taken a loan out in my children's name, and they left, then I'd be in a world of hurt.

They are doing the jobs that Americans don't want to do at a fraction of the wages and send the money south to boost Latin American economies. When it gets too cold and the illegals return home, Americans do the jobs they don't want to do. Wages are driven down in two ways. First, working for low wages reduces the number of jobs available and loosens the job market. When illegals send the money earned here to other countries, it reduces the demand for goods and services in the US and further reduces the demand for workers. Today, there is upward pressure on wages because we are close to full employment.

Right now in the USA we have a record 7.3 MILLION jobs going unfilled largely because the over 95 million working age who are out of the work force voluntarily are not qualified or motivated to fill them.

The U.S.birth rate has been declining for years as people delay marrying, if they ever do, until they are in their thirties when chances of pregnancy are greatly reduced for both males and females. This is not unique to the USA it is now prevalent in many countries, prime child bearing years would be late teens early twenties.

Please explain where you got your statistics. Especially, who are the non-working 95 million that make up about 30% of the US population?

    Automation.

The real worry is what to do with all the people unemployed due to automation.

That is why immigration is a terrible idea. The children and grandchildren of today's immigrants won't have a job and are likely to burn the place down.

Given the pace of automation, a declining population would actually be a good thing. If we have fewer jobs for people to work, we need fewer people.

It's not 95 million, it's more like 65 million. Those would be the people driving up our debt sitting at home on their lazy asses smoking weed, watching the boob tube and waiting on their monthly welfare checks. White trash, blacks, hispanics, indians...you name it.

I say get rid of welfare and let them work or starve, personally I don't give a damn.
