We shouldn't be funding PP. That doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. But if it can't exist on donations, then it SHOULDN'T EXIST.

How so? This makes absolutely no sense to me. One of biggest tenets of the ACA was FREE contraceptives. ANY. IUDs are covered at no cost. The big argument about the need for PP was "its the only place poor women can get contraceptives, family planning, etc". The ACA mandates eliminate that argument completely. Even without other federal funds, PP can sign any poor women not covered up for Medicaid and bill Medicaid. Problem solved. WHY do they need any additional federal funds for contraceptives after the ACA mandates? I love how people tout a solution to a problem, implement their solution, and then say oh well, we still need the same money for the problem that we just spent billions to eliminate. SMH.

There's only TWO listed PP locations in my ENTIRE state and both in the middle of the two largest cities in the state surrounded by other clinics. There are HUNDREDS of other health care clinics where women can go for health care and BC and that funding PP gets could be used to help those areas where coverage is lacking.

Again: If PP clinics aren't needed WHY do they have patients? How do you think other clinics will absorb these extra patients.

BTW YOU having two PP clinics in your area has no effect on the argument at all....see, YOU aren't everybody....

Ever heard of a business complaining they have too many customers?

The customer getting free treatment at a clinic isn't paying, but someone is. Guess who.

NO, YOU said PAYING CUSTOMERS are on the government teat.......and how could they be if they're paying....

...ever here of overrun clinics with long waiting times? They exist...

You still haven't shown PROOF that all clinics can handle the patients from all PP clinics....NO proof...NONE ZIP ZERO...

Because Planned Parenthood is well known and has a proven track record in distributing education and contraceptives.

Why does the right-wing like abortion so much?

Is it hard to understand? I'm sorry if you don't grasp insurance and government subsidies.

The ACA mandate on contraception applies to health insurance -- but only insurance provided by employers or sold on the Obamacare exchanges.
-- If you buy individual insurance outside the exchanges, no mandate.
-- If you don't have insurance, then no mandate, either, obviously
-- If you work for a church or other house of worship, they are exempt from the requirement
-- If for some reason you don't want your prescription going on your insurance record (say, because it would cause strife with a spouse or other relative), then the mandate is irrelevant to you
-- In terms of Medicaid, the programs are administered by the states, and thus have different coverages. Further, not every state adopted the Medicaid expansion, and so the ACA mandates don't apply everywhere.

There is still plenty of need for access to low-cost contraceptives, despite Obamacare.
