I've heard of girls as young as eighth grade wanting to have somebody's baby so they can get on the government teat, but this is even worse than that.
Girls were getting pregnant in the 11th grade, so they could go on government money when 18, and then become a dancer, to live the life style.
I've not heard of people wanting to get pregnant and planning to abort- but we did have a period where high school girls were seeking to get pregnant with the idea that if they had a baby, they would have somebody to love them. That of course is a pitiful situation all around. Society seems to be losing maturity with each generation.
Well, they were often getting pregnant at 16 or 17 for that reason. Before the Clinton/Gingrich welfare reform, a teenaged girl could get pregnant, then get enough benefits to live on her own with her baby. I was teaching in an inner city school at the time, and I can remember overhearing some girl (who had a baby at home) complain that because her parents made too much money, she couldn't get "her check" from the government. Her parents were middle class, but most of her friends were welfare class, and she thought she could get the same deal they did. She couldn't.
