Professor Salim Mansur has written "Delectable Lie" and has been interviewed by a university weblog and Charles Adler. I have met Professor Mansur and have a lot of respect for him. He likes my middle name Onward, which is actually Edmund Onward James Sagebrush James. He calls me onwardej. I highly recommed taking a moment to read the interview and listen to him speak.

"The very problem is that multiculturalism is not a philosophy; there is nothing to it. It is like cotton candy; it is sweet, it is nice, it is fluffy, but if you touch it there is nothing to it, your finger goes right through. Likewise, multiculturalism has no substance. In my view it is not a philosophy; it is merely a statement that was floated that all cultures are equal and demand equal respect."

I would consider the scourge of Bogusculturalism as something more akin to Nitrous Oxide with a kicker of Mustard Gas. You take a zeroville phrase which really has no true meaning other than phony feel-goodism, you toss it into the culture like the Nazi Blitzkrieg, it briefly makes small-minded do-gooders feel intellectual while it gradually but steadily destroys the cells of thought.

I don't disagree with the author, in fact I will search out more of his thoughts, but the truth is "Multi-culturalism" is far more pernicious than Cotton Candy. It divides and destroys, by foisting upon people a need to go along to get along, and people will only be told what to do for so long before exploding in revolt.

Thanks loads for posting the video and link. So nice to see sanity from the Great White North.

    Immigration is not Multiculturalism.

Emigrate to a new home, and assimilate. Don't expect your host country to embrace what you left behind. That's what we're talking about here. It's not about appreciating great Mexican food.

I just thought I'd share this; last year my daughters school changed Halloween to orange day to allow children, who don't participate in Halloween, not to feel left out. both my wife and daughter were quite upset. This year my daughter came home from school after a class on Canada's rights and freedoms and expressed to her mother that this year, she felt it was her right to wear her costume to school for Halloween. We haven't seen anything from the school about Halloween so far this year, but I'd heard of children being sent home to change last year.

Multiculturalism is a double edged sword in my opinion. On one edge you get a wide variety of cultures co-existing and complimenting each other by mixing and blending traditions and beliefs together like a fuzzy rainbow. On the other edge many cultures have radically different ways of going about day to day life. Some cultures are in fact quite evil and a more morally adjusted culture will resist the eviler one. And well, don't forget about when two violent cultures are forced to co-exist with each other.

So yeah, the statements quoted by the original poster are quite valid. I like what noneoftheabove said. It is very true how in multicultural societies one culture (especially if it is dominant over the others) has to bend it's ways and sacrifice itself just so others will not feel "left out". Remember when that Rabbi a few years ago complained about how December 25th is a date in both Christian and Jewish holidays? To my recollection he simply was asking that a Star of David be displayed beside a Christmas Tree. But instead everyone tore down their decorations entirely because they didn't want to offend the Rabbi.
