Deltacron: New variant or laboratory error?

    Link: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/deltacron-new-variant-or-laboratory-error

From the story at the link, which was written yesterday, 14 Jan 2022:

Deltacron has attracted a great deal of interest in the COVID scientific community. Whether it is, indeed, a new variant that has emerged as a result of a combination of Delta and Omicron viruses from a simultaneous infection in a human or whether it happened because of a laboratory accident still remains to be determined.

    – Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of infectious diseases at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center

OP opinion (required for a new thread): Yes, a new variant that may (MAY) incorporate the transmissibility of Omicron and the lethality of Delta would be, uh, very bad, indeed....

OK, here we go again... is this something to be concerned about, as Dr. Schaffner suggests, or do we just blow this off because everybody's 'tired of hearing about it'...?

Sounds like more of the fear porn used to keep the peanut gallery frightened out of their wits.

OK, nobody cares... got it! That is often what happens shortly before some variety of unforeseen sh*t hits the turbo-fan. No skin off my nose.... 8)

I found what seems to be a newsworthy piece on this 'Deltacron' variant (it had to be translated from Indonesian): https://www-cnbcindonesia-com.trans...tr_sl=id&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc . Bottom line: nobody thinks it's of any real significance... besides, everybody's 'tired' of hearing about this virus, so, now it will just disappear from our minds. And let's hope it doesn't come back with a vengeance and bite us all on the ass....

It does appear, at this point, that -- yes -- the damned virus WAS cooked-up in a lab in Wuhan, probably with some kind of collaboration between us in 'the West' and the Chinese. Then it got loose. Who knows exactly what it will do next? And, more ominously, who cares...?
