MOD ALERT

The American Democratic Party has been wrongfully portrayed as the party of the poor, the working class, and minorities for several decades now. I intend to set the record straight with this thread, and in doing so, ask my fellow conservatives to post articles and links to historical facts of which there are many with which to educate the ignorant who insist the republicans are the party racists. Today, I pledge to do the same with regard to the Democratic Party's incredibly abismal record on race with this very thread.

Although the history begins before this, I want to start with this Democratic Vice President of the United States, John C. Calhoun, a man that many of you may have never heard of:

Calhoun died nearly 10 years before the start of the American Civil War, but he was an inspiration to the secessionists of 186061. Nicknamed the "cast-iron man" for his ideological rigidity [2][3] as well as for his determination to defend the causes he believed in, Calhoun supported states' rights and nullification, under which states could declare null and void federal laws which they viewed unconstitutional. He was an outspoken proponent of the institution of slavery, which he defended as a "positive good" rather than as a "necessary evil".[4] His rhetorical defense of slavery was partially responsible for escalating Southern threats of secession in the face of mounting abolitionist sentiment in the North.

The Beating of Charles Sumner
on the afternoon of May 22, [1856], Brooks confronted Sumner as he sat writing at his desk in the almost empty Senate chamber: "Mr. Sumner, I have read your speech twice over carefully. It is a libel on South Carolina, and Mr. Butler, who is a relative of mine." As Sumner began to stand up, Brooks beat Sumner severely on the head before he could reach his feet, using a thick gutta-percha cane with a gold head. Sumner was knocked down and trapped under the heavy desk (which was bolted to the floor), but Brooks continued to strike Sumner until Sumner ripped the desk from the floor. By this time, Sumner was blinded by his own blood, and he staggered up the aisle and collapsed, lapsing into unconsciousness. Brooks continued to beat the motionless Sumner until his cane broke at which point he left the chamber. Several other Senators attempted to help Sumner, but were blocked by Keitt who brandished a pistol and shouted, "Let them be!" Keitt was censured for his actions.[citation needed]

Brooks was later fined $300 for his actions.

Soon after the creation of the Republican Party in 1854, the Democrat Party became split, allowing for the election of the first Republican President Abraham Lincoln.

Now the Democratic Party's record of racism and discrimination of Blacks and other minorities is long and voluminous such that it could fill the pages of many books (and has, I will attempt to do a single post in the near future listing as many of them as I can find). With this in mind, I can only do so much in this OP, but I do promise to follow up in all due diligence listing persons, events, chronological time periods, attrocities and laws and legislation which prove the Democratic Party has an unmatched history of racism and racial discrimination. I will cover the history of the democrats terrorist activities after the Civil War in creating it's terrorist wing the Klu Klux Klan, the democrat presidents and other politician who supported or were members of the KKK, and the history of Jim Crow laws, and lynchings, church burnings and other crimes committed by the KKK. Regardless of the issue - from immigration to ObamaCare - Democrats, with the complicity of the liberal media, demonize as racist average Americans who oppose their socialist agenda and are unhappy about how President Barack Obama and the Democrats in control of Congress are ruining our economy with massive deficit spending.

Incredibly, Democrats even stoop to condemning as racist anyone who dares to engage in philosophical discussions about the constitutional limitations on federal powers - just ask Rand Paul who dared to voice the fact that a few aspects of the 1964 Civil Rights Act lacked constitutional authority.

Lost in the media-generated firestorm designed to falsely paint Paul as a racist and derail his bid for a US Senate seat is any discussion about the reason why civil rights laws were necessary in the first place - Democratic Party racism.

In his new book, "Whites Blacks & Racist Democrats", Wayne Perryman provides startling details about racism in the Democratic Party from 1792 to 2009. Perryman describes how the Democratic Party became known as the "Party of White Supremacy" that fought to preserve slavery and enacted discriminatory laws to deny civil rights to blacks.

Included in Perryman's book are facts about how the Republican Party that was founded in 1854 as the anti-slavery party became the party of freedom and equality for blacks. Republicans fought to end slavery; amended the U.S. Constitution to grant blacks freedom, citizenship and the right to vote; and pushed to enact every piece of civil rights legislation from the 1860's to the 1960's over the objection of the Democrats.

Perryman brought to light the 1875 Civil Rights Act, the first law that dealt with accommodations and equality and was passed by a Republican-dominated Congress. To their eternal shame, Democrats in 1883 convinced the United States Supreme Court to declare the 1875 Civil Rights Act as "unconstitutional." Eleven years later in 1894, Democrats passed the 1894 Repeal Act to overturn the previous civil rights legislation passed during Reconstruction by Republicans.

Perryman also revealed that in 1964 while debating the accommodations portion of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Democrat Senator Olin Johnson of South Carolina argued: "Mr. President, this is the blackest day in the U.S. Senate since 1875, when the Congress passed a Civil Rights bill similar to this one. It was 89 years ago that the [Republican] Congress passed the nefarious Reconstruction era Civil Right laws, identical with what we are now discussing, which were later declared unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Senate, if it passes this measure before us, will be compounding that unconstitutional error made back in 1875. I predict that this bill will never be enforced without turning our nation into a police state and without the cost of bloodshed and violence..."

Ignored by the media today, as they attempt to paint all Republicans as racist, is the fact that Jim Crow laws were enacted by Democrats to force private businesses to refuse services to blacks. Those Jim Crow laws were in violation of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which states, in part: "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

BLACKS SUE OBAMA AND DEMOCRATS FOR RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
Courageous aptly describes Rev. Wayne Perryman who has just filed a historic and landmark lawsuit in federal district court demanding an apology from the Democratic Party for centuries of racist oppression. This is Rev. Perryman's second attempt to seek long overdue justice. His first lawsuit in 2005 went all the way to the United States Supreme Court. In that case, the Democrats hired an army of lawyers, admitted their racist past, but refused to apologize. The Democrats were let off the hook by the Court on the legal technicality of "standing," since Rev. Perryman had not suffered personally from the Democratic Party's horrendous racism. Different this time are two factors. First, President Barack Obama is a named defendant. Second, this writer has joined Rev. Perryman as a plaintiff since I did suffer personally at the hands of the racist Democrats during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

This is the first installment of a series of posts that will explore the culpibility of the Democrat Party in the formation of the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party, the KKK. Enjoy.

Historian Eric Foner observed:

In effect, the Klan was a military force serving the interests of the Democratic party, the planter class, and all those who desired restoration of white supremacy. Its purposes were political, but political in the broadest sense, for it sought to affect power relations, both public and private, throughout Southern society. It aimed to reverse the interlocking changes sweeping over the South during Reconstruction: to destroy the Republican party's infrastructure, undermine the Reconstruction state, reestablish control of the black labor force, and restore racial subordination in every aspect of Southern life.[42]
To that end they worked to curb the education, economic advancement, voting rights, and right to keep and bear arms of blacks.[42] The Ku Klux Klan soon spread into nearly every southern state, launching a "reign of terror against Republican leaders both black and white. Those political leaders assassinated during the campaign included Arkansas Congressman James M. Hinds, three members of the South Carolina legislature, and several men who served in constitutional conventions."[43]

As the Democrats began to rebuild after the loss of the Civil War, they were able to bring about the end of Reconstruction:

Election of 1876

Reconstruction continued in South Carolina, Louisiana and Florida until 1877. The elections of 1876 were accompanied by heightened violence across the Deep South. A combination of ballot stuffing and intimidating blacks suppressed their vote even in majority black counties. The White League was active in Louisiana. After Republican Rutherford Hayes won the disputed 1876 presidential election, the national Compromise of 1877 was reached.

The white Democrats in the South agreed to accept Hayes's victory if he withdrew the last Federal troops. By this point, the North was weary of insurgency. White Democrats controlled most of the Southern legislatures and armed militias controlled small towns and rural areas. Blacks considered Reconstruction a failure because the Federal government withdrew from enforcing their ability to exercise their rights as citizens.[132]

After losing the war, they fought against constitutional amendments and civil rights legislation for blacks, and chose instead to form terrorist organizations, legislate Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws and support every landmark case that was designed to deny blacks their constitutional rights including the Slaughterhouse Case, Plessy v Ferguson, the Civil Rights Cases of 1881 to overturn the 1875 Civil Rights Act, and Brown v. the Board of Education. While many of these cases were pending, Democrats proudly adopted the name "The Party of White Supremacy" and committed every inhumane violent act known to mankind (from 1867 to 1977) to keep blacks in "their place." And to add insult to injury, after killing millions of blacks through their racist institutions, they hired powerful attorneys to keep this information from blacks and to avoid apologizing to blacks.

Part I:

Unmatched once again, one of the worst Presidents in US History, though touted as one of the greatest Democrat Presidents, FDR embarked on what may have been one of the greatest injustices and violations of American Civil Rights and Liberites in American history, the Internment Camps of WWII.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Franklin Roosevelt, the long time hero and standard bearer of the Democrat Party, headed up and implemented one of the most horrible racist policies of the 20th Century – the Japanese Internment Camps during World War II. Roosevelt unilaterally and knowingly enacted Japanese Internment through the use of presidential Executive Orders 9066 and 9102 during the early years of the war. These orders single-handedly led to the imprisonment of an estimated 120,000 law abiding Americans of Japanese ancestry, the overwhelming majority of them natural born second and third generation American citizens. Countless innocents lost their property, fortunes, and, in the case of an unfortunate few, even their lives as a result of Roosevelt's internment camps, camps that have been accurately described as America's concentration camps. Perhaps most telling about the racist nature of Roosevelt's order was his clearly expressed intention to apply it almost entirely to Japanese Americans, even though America was also at war with Germany and Italy. In 1943, Roosevelt wrote regarding concerns of German and Italian Americans that they t0o would share in the fate of the interned Japanese Americans, noting that "no collective evacuation of German and Italian aliens is contemplated at this time." Despite this assertion, Roosevelt did exhibit his personal fears about Italian and German Americans, and in his typical racist form he used an ethnic stereotype to make his point. Expressing about his position on German and Italian Americans during World War II, Roosevelt stated “I don’t care so much about the Italians, they are a lot of opera singers, but the Germans are different. They may be dangerous.”

Roosevelt also appointed two notorious segregationists to the United States Supreme Court. Roosevelt appointed South Carolina segregationist Democrat Jimmy Byrnes to the court. Roosevelt later made Byrnes a top advisor, where the segregationist earned the nickname “assistant president.” Byrnes was Roosevelt’s second choice behind Harry Truman for the VP nod in his 1944 reelection bid. Roosevelt also appointed segregationist Democrat Senator Hugo Black of Alabama to the court. Black was a former member of the Ku Klux Klan with a notorious record of racism himself.

Look, you can play your political and semantic games up here all you wish... but it is clear that the Republican Party (and most Conservatives) have NOT be particularly helpful to minorities or the poor... since before I was born 50+ years ago.

Now, if you can PROVE that they have in ANY SUBSTANTIAL MANNER been as helpful as the Democratic Party (in the last 50-60 years)... I'd be very interested in what you have to say. Otherwise, I'll continue to see you OP above and more processed LIES propagated with the intention of obfuscating reality and/or wasting people's time in general.

Being helpful doesn't mean free handouts and (*)(*)(*)(*)ty healthcare bills. It means making the whole country better. The democrats focus on little things, like running up our debt and creating expensive products without even the slightest clue of how to pay for it. Which is better: a SS system that is collapsing in on itself, crushing debts, and a health care bill that no one knows how to pay for, OR a stable economy with job growth, a good economy, domestic energy, etc. How about instead of helping MORE poor people, we create LESS poor people?

After Reconstruction ended, the South instituted Laws and Codes to deny the Black man his Civil Rights given to him by the Republicans who passed the 14th, 15th and 16th Amendments to the Constitution:

After the American Civil War most states in the South passed anti-African American legislation. These became known as Jim Crow laws. This included laws that discriminated against African Americans with concern to attendance in public schools and the use of facilities such as restaurants, theaters, hotels, cinemas and public baths. Trains and buses were also segregated and in many states marriage between whites and African American people.

Jim Crow laws were tested in 1896 by Homer Plessey when convicted in Louisiana for riding in a white only railway car. Plessey took his case to the Supreme Court but the justices voted in favour of the Louisiana Court. William B. Brown established the legality of segregation as long as facilities were kept "separate but equal". Only one of the justices, John Harlan, disagreed with this decision.

In the early 1950s the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People concentrated on bringing an end to segregation on buses and trains. In 1952 segregation on inter-state railways was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. This was followed in 1954 by a similar judgment concerning inter-state buses. However, states in the Deep South continued their own policy of transport segregation. This usually involved whites sitting in the front and blacks sitting nearest to the front had to give up their seats to any whites that were standing.

African American people who disobeyed the state's transport segregation policies were arrested and fined. In 1956 African Americans, led by Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks, organised the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott.

History reveals that every piece of racist legislation that was ever passed and every racist terrorist attack that was ever inflicted on African Americans, was initiated by the members of the Democratic Party. From the formation of the Democratic Party in 1792 to the Civil Rights movement of 1960's, Congressional records show the Democrat Party passed no specific laws to help Blacks, every law that they introduced into Congress was designed to hurt blacks in 1894 Repeal Act. The chronicles of history shows that during the past 160 years the Democratic Party legislated Jim Crows laws, Black Codes and a multitude of other laws at the state and federal level to deny African Americans their rights as citizens.

Label is any way you wish. There are good, logical and substantial reasons why the majority of African Americans, other minorities and the poor won't be FLOODING toward Republicans or Conservatives anytime soon.

For now, while the Right can get away with it, they will manipulate elections (as much as possible). But it is going to take a LOT of reform on the Right, to actually convince working Americans to (ever) come over in significant numbers.

Wow....righties gettin' desperate trying to snag some of the black vote now huh? (yeah...like that's gonna happen). Only blacks that right wing are "Uncle Toms". The rich white man votes republican, and the "not so rich" blacks vote democratic.
Fortunately, for blacks and white alike, the super rich lose whenever the majority speaks up at election time. (that's why the right wing machine works so hard to disqualify voters, and that's what happened during the Bush/Gore fiasco resulting in the appointment of the republican President by daddy's Supreme court pals). Blacks seem to be the only ones smart enough to consistently NOT vote against their best interests by voting republican. Poor whites gladly bend over and ask for more, and the right wing thanks you.
