    Predictable.....

420, of course, is a special number for marijuana enthusiasts, who celebrate the plant extra hard every April 20.

The new bill filed in the House on Wednesday by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) is titled the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act. If passed, it would remove cannabis from the federal Controlled Substances Act.

“While the bill number may be a bit tongue in cheek, the issue is very serious. Our federal marijuana laws are outdated, out of touch and have negatively impacted countless lives,” Blumenauer said in a press release. "Congress cannot continue to be out of touch with a movement that a growing majority of Americans support. It’s time to end this senseless prohibition.”

And yes, the bill is actually called "420"

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/hr-420/

A marijuana bill introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives during the 116th Congress is numbered H.R. 420 — a reference to marijuana culture.

Why was this matter not introduced during the presidency of Barack Obama, when there was hope for it actually being implemented without opposition?

Even if such is the case, the united states is a signatory to several international treaties that legally obligate it to continue the so-called "war on drugs" indefinitely and without end. It literally has no other choice but to maintain the status quo, even if government at all levels wished to call it off.

    Congress can decriminalize marijuana, today.

what a waste its been. Focus all DEA actions and efforts on cocaine, heroine, meth, etc. Leave marijuana alone. Trump could sign an EO this second.

They need to legalize it, tax it and use the revenue to build the wall.

Maybe because they lost the control of the House in 2010. Not all Republicans are opposed to it, so it is not without hope.

Why are you in a rush to find ways to spend the money, when we are burning trillion dollars of borrowed money per year?

See that is the democrat in you. You don't understand the difference between delegating where income is to be used and defecate spending.

you realize that the prohibition on marijuana has not stopped anyone from using marijuana right? It's a ****ing plant that can be grown literally ANYWHERE, indoors as well as outside. Legalizing marijuana will not cause the public en mass to suddenly become pot heads. Anyone who wants to smoke now, can and does. Weed is easier to obtain than alcohol, lol.

That is not a fair, accurate, or honest description of pot users. Telling free citizens that they may not have a plant is more of a description of a nose-wiping nanny state.

Having said that, Welfare should be reduced over time to prevent creating dependency.

Why would any "fiscal conservative" want to spend billions of needless dollars keeping troops in Syria? Shouldn't our money be spent to secure our own country first?

I agree that some are not a problem but many are

Including a swedish study thst found pot use by teenagers stunted intellectual growth

4:20pm is the time the students met for spliffs after class, april 20th came later because of the connection.

I see no problems with legalising pot but does reek of desperation on the DNC's side, I suppose anything they can milk an issue out of.

Defeating international terroism is a serious matter. A wall will accomplish nothing. Even Trump himself said people should never give up if they run into a concrete wall, but instead go around it, over it or under it. Its a pipe-dream to think a wall in the desert will stop terrorists from entering. Besides, that is not the topic of this thread.

The liberal in you promoted you to immediately seek ways to spend new tax money.

perhaps the dems think we should subsidize farmers to grow marijuana then tax it like cigarettes...
