SNIP House Democrats plan to unveil two articles of impeachment Tuesday, charging President Donald Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, according to multiple lawmakers and aides. The Judiciary Committee plans to vote on the articles on Thursday, setting up a vote on the House floor next week to make Trump the third president in history to be impeached. The markup will be the last major step before the House votes to formally impeach Trump. ENDSNIP https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/09/impeachment-trump-democrats-tuesday-079694 I assume these will be published somewhere later this AM, and I will post a link. Trump has to be happy with the House... they are impeaching him fast, per his specific instructions. R's can argue Trump's intent on the Abuse of Power all day long (and they will), but it's going to be very surprising to me if the OOC fails in the Senate without pulling some R's along. How can a body like the Senate vote to confirm they no longer hold a power in the separation of powers?? I'm not really sure, but if they don't remove Trump on OOC, there will likely never be an opposition Executive Branch witness responding positively to a Congressional subpoena ever again. I predict this article will actually become much more important than Ukraine going forward. Found this quote in another article on the subject that sums up my feelings on OOC “Quite frankly, if you don’t believe in the processes of your own institution, what are you doing there?” Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) told the New York Times. Thoughts?
