Secret ballot would have almost all democrats voting against impeachment and for keeping Trump in office for the next 5 years!

The democrats in office are sheep who can only follow Schumer and Pelosi around and do what they are told. They can't actually think for themselves.

    Translation:

The Democrats are in control in The House and I don't agree with them so I am calling them nasty names.

The GOP runs The Senate, and since they are going to tell me what I want to hear, I consider them to "be fair".

Anyway, I am looking forward to reading the Official Language of the Articles.

It takes time to bring up the Nixon articles and copy/paste, then change "Nixon" to "Trump"...

Conservatives will win back all 3 houses and when Ruth "retires" Trump will get another 1-2 SCOTUS picks assuring the Republic survives for the next 50-100 years. Another soft coup and civil war style takeover by the democrats has failed miserably. They will retreat, lick their wounds and try again when they fool enough people into voting for them.

Now, we need to clean out these horrid mayors who have destroyed these cities with their leftist policies and rebuild the country from the inside. Weed out the rot and clean it up. Give the Middle Class back their homes and their cities so we can all prosper again.

Looking forward to Trump 5 year run and on to bigger and better things.

What is funny is that Trump doesn't really have to put $1 into advertising for the 2020 elections and the democrats are doing all the free advertising and solidifying Trumps base all on their own while also move the needle for independents to the right. Well done Dem's!

Technically there is no such thing since even if they were to use a secret ballot a FOIA request would reveal how they voted.

However the concept of a secret ballot has merit if the GOP Senators stonewall Moscow Mitch until he gives them that option. From his position he can claim that it was done to allow the Senators to "vote their consciences without fear of political retribution". If he sees any political advantage he will go this route.

The downside will be trying to block the FOIA request. That might end up in front of the SCOTUS but if all that does is buy them enough time to make it through the 2020 elections it will be enough.

if Moscow Mitch wants to flush the Orange Turd then that is one of less risky options IMO.

LOL, you outlined the only reason they are rushing this, doing 180 on their previous public statements, to affect the 2020 election. Isn't that what they are claiming to protect?

If we only had an impeachable offense so that we could test that theory. Oh well, guess we'll never know.

Meanwhile, Trump has to be thrilled this AM, as the House is going fast, as he requested... He's got them completely under his thumb...

We the People can see that your BLOTUS is a criminal who does not deserve to be in the Oval office. The sooner we are rid of him the better.

    That is true, Frank.

Trump has too much control over their voters.

Actually, it will be the Democrat Senators that will have to go on record.

Will they vote for Impeachment knowing full well that the public has not been fooled by this new charade?

Udall, Smith, Peters, Jones, and even Shaheen do not want to see this come to the Senate.

I'm predicting that the Republicans will hold the Senate on Trump's coattails.

Actually, yes. Can't wait for the vote! Hopefully that will happen soon as well. I suspect the senate is getting all their subpoenas ready as this is going to be entertaining.

Democrats have fired at least one fatal shot into Trump.

Abuse of Power will rely on the House investigations into Ukraine and possibly other matters including obstruction of Justice, Witness Intimidation, and Witness Tampering. That debate could involve additional witnesses and time in the process. I suspect it will mirror the House hearings.

Contempt of Congress is undeniable and will be impossible for Republican to defend without extreme positions that normal people will see as transparently partisan. Contempt of Congress is right in Republican's faces. Americans see it too and it is an impeachable offense. It's the fatal shot to either Trump or his Senate supporters.

The Senate typically has better thinkers than the House and they have whole states to serve, not one district. The Contempt of Congress is Trump's equivalent to shooting a guy on fifth avenue in plain view. Refusing to obey lawfully executed Congressional subpoenas, ordering others not to obey those subpoenas, and intimidating those that may chose to obey Congress is a forest fire of impeachable offenses.

The only possible defense of these actions by Republicans would have to be along the lines of, "no big deal." In other words, to sink their own boat.

Subpoenas?? Ha Ha... don't hold your breath... nobody needs to respond to subpoena's anymore...

    Hey, what a day.

2 Articles of impeachment and I see that Pelosi is currently announcing a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico..

It's good to be an American when Americans are running the show...

    Yeah.

Flipping the Senate in 2020 is going to be tough.

    The Dems. could do it.

They (essentially) need to pull an inside straight and figure out how to flip either NC or Iowa.

Collins brought up Biden's admission of a Quid Pro Quo yesterday on C-Span. The Dem lawyer was caught by surprise and admitted, under oath, that it was a Quid Pro Quo.

So Trump was just given exculpatory evidence pertaining to as to why asking the Ukraine to look into Burisma and Shokin was justified because, "probable cause," existed even from a Dem attorney's perspective.

The Dem lawyer also refused to answer who ordered the telephone records.

The way this is going, I am beginning to think that Pelosi will not have the votes to push this to the Senate.

The path is there, but it's uphill..

I'm confident they take Col and lose Ala = No change

Collins is likely toast in Maine = +1

I see a clear path for Kelly in Arizona = +2

Then you are correct... that third one is going to be tough... NC, Iowa are best bets, but I wouldn't rule out Montana or one of the Georgias...

The senate is awful. 48 senators get elected with the same population as 2.

We are heading towards a perpetual dem house and perpetual rep senate. The system is broken.
