In a report released Thursday, the Office of the Inspector General said its probe found that Comey violated department policy.

"Upon completing its investigation, the OIG provided its factual findings to the Justice Department for a prosecutorial decision regarding Comey’s conduct, as required by the Inspector General Act. After reviewing the matter, the DOJ declined prosecution," the office said in a statement.

"I don’t need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a 'sorry we lied about you' would be nice," Comey tweeted Thursday.

I haven't read the 82 page report yet, but I'll get to it...

This is pretty much as expected... Nobody expects the head of the FBI to even write memos like this, much less leak them, but he had his reasons... None of the information in his memos should be considered classified...

Breaking news... Did Comey skate here??

And the is a key point in the report from what I am hearing the IG is specifically questioning the reasoning. The reason was Comey was and remains a political hack who was trying to use his position to affect the election and then bring down a President. All the more reason it was the correct move to fire him and he should have been fired before Trump did so. Did he skate, yes he did. The question now is what happens with the FBI and future directors if Comey set the standard. He brought more harm to the FBI than any director I can remember.

The legal experts are still going over it, awaiting further discussions I am sure my sat radio will be full of as I travel today.

And yes information developed during an investigation especially when no one is charged with a crime can be highly classified legally. Raw intelligence in a persons FBI file is protected information.

    Comey wants an apology?

    hahahah

the article you linked states this: " though Inspector General Michael Horowitz said Comey’s "retention, handling, and dissemination of certain Memos violated Department and FBI policies, and his FBI Employment Agreement."

Sorry Comey...you get no apology for being called out for your rule breaking.

You won't get many Democrats to disagree with that....

Seems the largest issue is who the memo's belonged to.... Comey says that except for Memo 1, he considers the other 6 memos to be his "personal documents", which he would feel free to do with what he wanted, as long as they weren't classified, or contain classified information.

This will never be resolved to anybody's satisfaction. Comey did a lot of suspect things in the memo process, but i cannot find ethical fault with any of it, considering the circumstances of what he believed Trump asked him to do.

He doesn't deserve an indictment anyway, so that's good news.... But history, from both sides, will never be kind to this man.

Both sides have a lot to be upset with Comey. The best we can hope for is his reputation will be ruined as an example to others.

Generally agree, but I don't knock his reputation down for writing the memos, just how they were disseminated...

Now, that he has lost his usefulness and is disgraced, probably not.

A short time ago he was the darling of the anti-trump mob and the leftist swamp media though, selling his anti-Trump book and trashing Trump to anyone willing to listen. Lest we forget that his shenanigans are responsible for the Mueller witchhunt in the first place.

    No evidence means that.

True, criminal exoneration... for now.... that he was scumbag and a rogue cop breaking the very policies he was paid to uphold for political purposes is also not in dispute, the report is pretty clear on this.

I thought it was the Steele dossier? Who/what ISN'T responsible for the Mueller report, in your opinion??

Macron?? Is he in the clear? Patrick Mahomes??

From some of the things that I have seen posted here...

...by the Pro-Trump RW tilting at windmills (While posting every BS "story" spewing from the Tinfoil Hats of the RW Fever Swamp) for the last couple of years...

...I figured that Comey would be facing several Federal Death Penalty Cases...

I guess all of that "Comey in 'cuffs" was just more of the same RW BS?:bored:

Oh well, he "violated some policies", but nothing worth being prosecuted over?

    Oh well.

Time for the RW Fever Swamp to move onto the next Bigfoot Conspiracy. :smh: :bored:

That's 100 percent true...of any crime. However as the article highlights, he broke all sorts of FBI rules and regulations.

That's completely in dispute... I dispute it right now...

I'm reading the report now (are you?)... One of the largest arguments FOR Comey not being out for political gain is his request to Sessions to stop having direct communications with Trump....

If he was looking at taking Trump down, he would jump at every chance to get private meetings with him...

Some before, Some after... He didn't send any of the memos to anybody until after he had been fired...
