Dershowitz: Comey confirms that I'm right - and all the Democratic commentators are wrong

Well now, this is interesting. Evidently a little known fact. Too bad for those that are now claiming Trump obstructed justice.

    Snip...

Look at Comey, the poor drama queen. FBI director was stunned and so shocked by what the president said.:roflol:Comey, " I did not say a word and we just stared at each other intently." He looks like a hurt petulant child that is tattling. He has exaggerated everything and leaked his memo to his friend to link to the news! You can't make this up. The only thing that did not get leaked, was Comey telling everyone Trump was not under investigation. The only liar is Comey. No wonder our FBI is corrupt with sissy boys running the FBI. No wonder they never keep terrorists they have questioned, from killing masses of people. They got NOTHIN'.:rip:

Let's assume for a moment that the president does have the authority to direct investigations by the justice department. Do you think it would be right for him to do so? That would effectively give the president the ability to have his cabinet, friends, advisors etc. undertake criminal activity with impunity. Serious criminal activity. Treason, even.

So the president might have the power to do it, but that does not mean that it would be right for the president to do it.

A serious legal scholar calling out the Mainstream Media and all the left wing pundits. Of course, he is right, but don't expect that to stop them from spreading more lies.

Since he instructed Comey that it was fine to investigate his 'satellites', what's the issue?

Yeah, he kind of did tell him to stop. When he fired him.

As irritating as it is, I hope the left continues to obsess over this nonsense. Give it another year, and the majority of the Trump haters will grow weary and tune out.

LOL, after he was fired he could do nothing. Like he said during his testimony it had no effect on any investigation.

    bullshit.

President cannot order the FBI to end an investigation due to personal feelings for the target of the investigation, or because he feels the investigatiom may hurt him.

You Trumpsters really need to ask yourselves if you would be taking the same line if all of this stuff happened with Hillary if she had won. If it would be ok for her to ask Comey to "let it go" if he started looking into her emails again.
I'm looking at this in a non-partisan way, and the way the president has interfered with an FBI investigation into his campaign and his associates is really troubling.

Would not have happened. Hillary would have fired him immediately upon taking office. The left just recently found their love for Comey....wasn't too long ago he was the worst guy on the planet and the reason she lost.

Off topic question: Am I the only one whose spell check automatically changes "Comey" to "Comet" or "Comedy" every time I type the name out?

Well, if the president has the legal authority to stop any FBI investigation, I guess Trump is not violating any law in telling Comey to drop investigation on Flynn.

That seems to have huge potential for corruption, but law is law I guess.

Congress will decide if Trump has the authority to order FBI to stop an investigation and then fire the FBI's director when he chooses not to, during the Impeachment hearings.

This is like how the Democrats acted during GWB's presidency on steroids.

    Nothing more.

They swore up and down Bush Jr. would be impeached...never happened.

Yes he can. Comey today even testified when asked: What would you have done if the President had asked you stop the investigations? Comey's reply was, We would have ended the investigations.

Even the unreliable MSM agrees with the Presidents power to order the DOJ or FBI to stop any investigation.

President Trump has no interest or intention of shutting down the investigations, but he could if he wanted to. The house and senate can jack around all they want. I don't think the president can tell them to stop what they do.

    You guys don't get it.

Congress can choose to Impeach the President for picking his nose, if they want.

    they have that authority.

    Its the Constitution.

If Congress decides that what Trump did was Obstruction of Justice, that's all that matters.

Impeachment is not a legal trial. Its simply a vote of confidence by Congress.

or a vote of no confidence.

No actual crime need be committed. Its at the full discretion of Congress.

No it is not. Though you are correct that it is not a legal trial.
