Dershowitz: Jan. 6 Panel 'Doctored the Tape,' Edited Out Trump's Words

Constitutional law expert Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax on Friday that the Jan. 6 committee's public hearing on Thursday night was ''not a fair proceeding'' in that it was ''one-sided'' and ''unethical.''

''Take, for example, President Trump's speech on Jan. 6,'' Dershowitz said on ''Spicer & Co.'' ''He said at the end of the speech he wanted people to show their voices patriotically and peacefully.

''They doctored the tape,'' he continued. ''They edited those words out. If a prosecutor ever did that, they'd be disbarred. You can't present part of the tape and deliberately omit the rest of the tape in order to mislead the audience, especially when the other side has no opportunity to cross-examine, no opportunity to present its own evidence.''…


…''So, President Trump committed no crimes,'' he said. ''Anybody who thinks that he did fails to understand the First Amendment.''

Because Donald Trump's side had no opportunity to present its case, Dershowitz said the committee had a ''special ethical obligation not to cheat, not to defraud the viewers, and that's exactly what the Democrats, with their two Republicans, did yesterday.'

''They cheated the viewers of hearing the actual words that Donald Trump spoke,'' he said….

Dershowitz is a consistent 1st amendment advocate. He’s exactly right about what he said here. The committee is a total and complete partisan sham.

What matters is did Dershowitz state the truth? Did the committee edit what was said and take things out of context? Yes or no? If they didn't then its easy to prove. If they did, its also easy to prove. Just show video of the hearing. The whole argument of what he said about editing can be settled with that alone. After that is settled we can then go from there. So...did the committee omit things from Trumps speech in a way which takes things out of context? Yes or no?

I can quote more posts but... needless to say... ALL of the above has nothing to do with the subject and is off topic. Can ANYONE here dispute what Dersowitz said? Should be easy to do. Show a video of the hearing. Its all you have to do. Since some of you (from either side) may just post the whole hearing and say "there, watch it and you'll see!", do everyone a favor and point to the time frame in which this is talked about.

As for the OP.... I don't know if its true or not because I haven't watched it. However, I also wouldn't doubt it as Liz Cheney omitted a part of Trumps tweet with in the first few minutes of her speaking. That is what proved to me that this was going to be a highly one sided affair with omissions happening in order to push a political agenda. Not to actually get "to the truth" as is claimed. And Dershowitz is correct that if that happened in an actual court of law the lawyers that did it would be slapped upside the head. But then again in a real court of law you'd have someone arguing on behalf of the person being prosecuted. Which is certainly NOT going to happen here due to Pelosi rejecting anyone that would have done so.
